First purchase of air purifier. When I am purchasing any product, especially something that I have never owned before, I do a lot of research online and at the local brick and mortar stores. I also read enough reviews to get an overall idea of purchasers experience. In this case, I called a company, Sylvane, whose specialty is in air purifiers and humidifiers. The gentleman I spoke with highly recommended the Winix 5500 which was the predecessor to this unit. My research not only found that this unit had all the features I wanted, but every review of the 5500 was 5-stars … very unusual since there’s usually one or two folks that will find something wrong with anything and everything. The unit was shipped by Wal-Mart directly to my home with free shipping and arrived ahead of schedule. Based on the units I had looked at in local stores, this unit was obviously a much better looking and seemingly higher quality unit than any of the others. Usually there’s some issue with any item you buy that you don’t particularly like, but not in this case. Everything about the unit surpassed my expectations. I had not seen a Winix unit in my search so I was obviously delighted … unusual! I am a picky person and a perfectionist, but I have not found a single thing about this unit that I don’t like. It looks good, is very sturdy and logically constructed, is extremely quiet unless you crank it all the way up to “turbo”, has a much better filter system than most, has controls that are unobtrusive and user friendly, can be set against the wall (many, many can’t), and the black color just blends in with the surroundings. The only thing I didn’t like about this units predecessor was that it was white. This unit also appears to have a better filtering system … pre-filter, heavy charcoal filter and a true HEPA filter. Replacement intervals will vary, but are represented to be as long as one year. My early observations are that is likely in my situation. Again, I spent approximately a month shopping and doing research, and I feel my time was well spent and I made the perfect selection for my situation … “nuff” said.

Super quiet. Sleep mode is so quiet I have only heard the fan once at night. I’m a very light sleeper so I was amazed. Even the normal mode is quiet enough to hear the TV without changing the TV volume.

Affordable solution to mold/odor. HEPA filter lasts 12 months. Pleasant appearance. Quiet for sleeping. Easy to carry. Only concern is air flow/circulation. I turned the fan speed up to increase air flow. My sinus has cleared up for better sleep.

Clean Air. This air cleaner was delivered within 1 week of the order. Packaged well, easy to assemble and get started. Have it near the cat litter box to try and reduce dust in the house. It actually has 3 filters within …a screen, charcoal & HEPA. The screen and charcoal are supposed to be washable. I like that option. I also like the remote. It’s quiet and I’ve already forgotten that it’s there. Only been running for a bout 2 weeks. So far so good!

No more allergy meds. Since buying this unit I’m able to get off my allergy meds and sleep without snoring at night. Great product and very quiet! Very smart machine and easy to use.

Indoor allergies helped! The Winnix 5500-2 is a good air purifier. Can use on auto or manually. Quiet while operating except when on turbo fan speed. Unit helped my indoor dust allergies greatly. I liked so well I bought second Winnix for bedroom.

Winix 5500-2 Air Cleaner with PlasmaWave Technolog. How do I know if this works? Only had it a week or so. I bought it to take smoke from the air in my small home with a wood stove. The smoke detector still goes off, wish Walmart had waited a year before requesting this review.
