Very happy with this Vortex (Solo, 10×25). I considered paying twice as much for the larger lens (36mm) but I’m glad I did not. The brightness on this device is great. Magnification is crazy good too. I can see wildlife on the water at 150 yards in perfect detail (couple of otters moved into the lake behind our house). I don’t have a problem steadying it with one hand. The focus ring adjustment works very well. It’s resistant enough to prevent it from being jostled out of focus but not too tight to adjust. Eye relief is also great, the eyepiece has two settings, closed or extended with a positive “click” holding either selection in place. Build quality feels top notch and yet it’s surprisingly light in the hand. Included soft sided carry case with velcro closure, cleaning cloth and neck lanyard.

This monocular is worth the money, with optical clarity that is impressive at this price point and with an objective lens of this size.I use very expensive binoculars and telescopic rifle scopes, but there are situations when I need something light, small, and fast that I can drag through the mud without worry. This unit is perfect for such occasions. This little scope has one problem – but it’s a biggie. The focus ring is both too narrow and placed too closely to the adjustable eye piece, causing interference with both parts, and some difficulty in utilizing the focus ring. This poor design feature is why I dropped a couple of stars off of the rating.

I bought both the 8×25 and 10×25 for comparison. It was a close call. The 8×25 image is slightly brighter and (of course) wider. I preferred the greater magnification of the 10×25 for viewing pistol targets downrange.I had no problems with holding either monocular steady. I found that bracing the side of my index finger against my eyebrow virtually eliminated shake. The focus ring was just right; not too tight and not too loose.Minor cons- I wish the unit came with lens caps. I tried a Butler Creek Tini-Bikini, but it didn’t fit.- I would prefer a snugger, more compact case that completely encloses the monocular.

I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I believe this is a great monocular. It’s the first I’ve ever owned and, although I was unsure about investing in a 10x versus an 8x (which is supposed to be easier to keep steady), it seems as if I can hold this monocular just fine. I’m no surgeon, but the little shakiness that occurred while holding one-handed was not really that big of a deal. As long as I kept the object in question generally in the center of view, I had no issues with the small movements caused by me. I also found that using two hands or supporting myself and/or the monocular with a stationary object reduced considerably the shakiness associated with the more powerful zoom. I appreciate the ability to adjust the eye relief, and the focus knob, although slightly tight during one-handed operation, is easy enough to manipulate. It definitely won’t fall out of focus easily. I was also unsure of the smaller lens (25mm) compared to some of the larger ones common with this size of monocular (with regard to low-light conditions). However, I was able to see relatively well before this morning’s sunrise with just the ambient light that was present before the sun crested the horizon.

You absolutely can’t beat the form factor, shape, weight, and convenience to carry. I can imagine easily carrying on neck or belt. However, the eye relief stinks (that means it’s very particular about how close you hold it to your eye before you get a distorted black ring in your line of sight). So while it’s a quick thing to just move up to your face without fiddling with lens caps and two focus rings and whatever, you’ll find yourself fiddling to find the sweet spot and spending extra time to hold the 10×25 steady (as opposed to binoculars which are quick in this respect). So…the convenience of a “quick little item” becomes a bit of a wash when you factor these things in. It makes me prefer binoculars for most situations unless being ultra compact is a factor. Objects in my Pentax 8×25 binoculars looks identical to the 10×25’s here. I read some reviews stating a lousy case and a hard to use focus ring. Mine did not have this issue. Smooth ring and great case (flip top, open areas toward the top).I’m keeping these because I like a variety of optics, but I need to buy another optic for something and I will look elsewhere. These aren’t ideal for all situations.

Purchased this item to carry with me every day in my computer bag to have for quick viewing of wildlife or items that are too far away to see with the naked eye. Works very well and my grandsons really like it as well. The only issue I have found (and the only reason I did not give it 5 stars) is the eye relief as I am a glasses wearer, but for the price and size it works very well. I can make it work with a slight blackout ring around the outside due to glasses wear and short eye relief. Good focus ring movement and very easy to acquire the subject. Very bright optics as all Vortex items I have tried. Very compact and light. it is pretty rugged as well. This has what has become a standard in better quality optics, the twist up eye cup and it works well and stays in place.I would recommend this for anyone that is not a glasses wearer that wants compact, clear and bright optics in a monocular. If you are a fellow glasses wearer and as I have learned to do, tolerate short eye relief, it is not too bad for us either. I could not find another product that was this compact and good optics quality that has long enough eye relief for glasses wearers.

Would have been 5 stars but the pouch it arrived in is pretty useless, it will keep the lenses from being scratched but you cannot put it on your belt so have to carry around. the power for quite a small item is very good and the focusing ring easy to use, I wear glasses but I find it easier to put my glasses on my head and use eye cups normally. I have some 10 x 50 binoculars and there is not much difference between the two

I was getting tired of carryng around my big heavy bins and wanted something small and powerful to throw round my neck. This little monocular fitted the bill. With great optics and a reasonable price for an excellent product. The Monocular comes in a belt case for protection. Also supplied is a neck strap and lens cloth.

Quality. Clear optics, easy to attain sight picture. Bought them for my dad in his seventies and he gets on well with them. Sturdy rubbery grip. He says he never realised how ugly some of his neighbours were now he can see them close up.

Ideal size to clip onto belt buckle. Having the case is a big benefit. This monocular is perfect if just out and about in the countryside. Ideal for beginner birdwatchers.
