I purchased this to upgrade from my Vortex Ranger 1500. I have been doing long range shooting and I am now trying to get more into the extreme long range shooting (1500 yards plus). My old Ranger 1500 was dead on accurate for all the ranges it would give a reading for. I was hesitant to buy this range finder simply because a range finder claiming 4000 yards at or near the $500 price point is way ahead of its time for pricing.I took the range finder out to 100, 200, and 300 yards. I have a long measuring line so I was able to confirm these ranges exactly. The range finder gave me the exact yardage at these measurements. At 200 and 300 supporting the range finder with just my hand, I found that the laser wanted to pick up a large house down the street instead of the person standing at the yardage marker. Once I was able stabilize it better, I was able to pick up the yardage. I also like the fact that this will give a decimal reading to a tenth of a yard. Not necessary, but a cool feature for extreme distances.I then took the range finder out to distances that I have validated with shooting and was able to range exactly at 1760 yards (1 mile) in the normal mode. I had to use a tripod to get the reading on a 24 inch steel target, but that’s a pretty small target to pick up at that distance. I will be going out this weekend to verify the 2000 yard target and 2500 yard target. Vortex says you should be able to range a tree at 2000 yards and I would bet that is accurate.Overall, I am impressed with this range finder and there is no way to beat the Vortex warranty. I was going to go with the Leupold 2800, but their warranty is only years and compared to Vortex, they will fix or replace anything for any reason at any time. That’s amazing. Just for clarification sake, I am not a die hard Vortex fan. Years ago when they first came out I bought a lot of their equipment and even did reviews on some of their products for field use. Since that time I have found other options, which I think are better quality at the same price points so I have transitioned my gear to those products. The range finders however are top of the line and work really well. I would say this is the best value for your dollar on the market right now.

There is a hazy white film when looking thru these. I can see better with my $20 Simmons el-cheapo mini binoculars. So disappointed with $500 quality. I was expecting much more. Do yourself a favor, get the Leupold 2800.

Total waste of money. Super large and bulky. Optical clarity is pathetic. Looking through the lens is like looking out my frosted bathroom window. Image is super hazy and red light illumination bleed is terrible. The light bleed really highlights the imperfections and poor lens quality. Good luck using this at low light in the morning or evening…all you will see is red even with the brightness turned down. I use Vortex rifle scopes, binos, spotter, and have owned the Ranger 1500 and 1800. Really wish I had kept my Ranger 1800. Will be selling this and switching back. Also, the stitching on the included bino harness came out when I removed the ammo pouch from the Velcro on the front. Never even took it into the field and it was falling apart. Only redeeming quality is that it ranges very well and is easy to use as with all Vortex rangers. Super disappointed in Vortex on this one though.

My brother is jealous, i saved up for these a d they are worth it. I guess to puck a flaw i would say the janky little curly cord w plastic end isnt going to hold up for a wrist strap, i assume its mostly for anti fall protection but reolace that w decent paracord and ur set. Clear, and accurate. The case is really nice too.

I was able to range the berms out to 1 mile. Can’t ask for much more than that. That was also just in normal mode. It does help to put it on a tri-pod, luckily there is a screw hole just for that purpose. Display was real easy to see in the bright sunlight, menu and operation is simple as it gets. Highly recommend for the money. If you are in to long range shooting or hunting you won’t be disappointed with this.

Happy with the quality of the picture and the accuracy seems to be good. I have used it hunting and golfing. I was able to get a reading on a rock at 1400 yds in wyoming.
