Outstanding set of glass for the money. Probably the best value I’ve come across to date. I spend a lot of time glassing. These replaced the need for a spotting scope when hunting mule deer out west. Ironically enough I think that these are probably the best value that vortex has to offer. I’ve looked through razor HD’s for many hours and they actually have less edge to edge clarity than these Vultures at twice the price. I repeat the edge to edge clarity and chromatic aberration is far superior in these $500 vultures than the $1200 razor HD series. These are not Swaro’s or Zeus’s but I can tell you that Swaros are not five times better than these…. they might be twice as good as these but they’re five times the price. Unless you have money falling out of your pockets I think you would be crazy not to buy these or pay a premium for the Kaibabs. Just an outstanding set of glass for the money. These replaced the need for a spotting scope when hunting mule deer out west. Ironically enough I think that these are probably the best value that vortex has to offer. I’ve looked through razor HD‘s for many hours and they actually have less edge to edge clarity than these vultures at twice the price. The edge to edge clarity is outstanding in these and I’m seeing minimal chromatic aberration. These are not Swaro’s but I can tell you that swaros are not five times better than these they might be twice as good as these but they’re five times the price. Unless you have money falling out of your pockets youd be doing yourself a disservice by not trying these first or even paying extra for the Kaibabs. Vortex seems to be marketing low end glass to the people that just want the logo because they’ve seen them on meat eater, and they seem to be marketing hign end priced glass like the razorHD series to people that want the logo and have seen the gear on meat eater, the sweet spot with this company is going to be mid range optics like this where the value is tremendous and you still get the warranty. These are as good as any $1200 set a razor HDs or Kaibabs and you’re not paying the premium .

  2. Top Ten Top Ten List

We recently bought a home that has a view of a stretch of water from about 3 miles to nearly 15 miles of shipping lanes. We purchased these binoculars, thinking we would eventually need a telescope as well. These binoculars are exceptional. The light gathering is great and the clarity far surpasses what we could have imagined. We later purchased a Celestron C5 Spotting Scope to see further … but the power alone was not enough to impress us. The clarity and brightness of the image in the Vortex made the C5 image less desirable. We returned it and will probably not try another telescope. The Vortex Binoculars are really that good. They are a bit heavy, but not enough to knock a star off the ratings over.

These are simply amazing. I have been putting in my research for some higher powered but still reasonably priced optics for deer and elk hunting. I have a pair of 8×42 binos that are pretty nice for spotting in closer areas, but needed something that would allow me to put horns on an animal further away, in low light or foggy conditions. These binos are perfect for that! I can scan a clear cut several hills away and make out everything on it. They operate as well in low light as my scope, and they pick up details in fog that other binos wouldn’t be able to. They also don’t fog up on the inside like my other binos do. They are pretty lightweight for how powerful they are, and the price is much more reasonable than some other binos in this quality range.

I quite like these binoculars in general, although they don’t feel quite as nice quality as my old Nikon Monarch’s. The similar spec Monarch’s appear to be more visually colorful and have a less two dimensional image than these…. I notice that cheaper binoculars make the images look like cardboard cutouts… not that these are what I would call cheap binoculars…! I was surprised that from memory, the Monarch’s seemed to have just as good light gathering ability as these in low light, despite being 50mm rather than 56mm…. although, as I don’t have them anymore, I can’t directly compare now.. To be fair, the Monarch’s also cost half as much again as these Vortex’s.The one big thing I really don’t like about these Vortex’s is the stock eyepiece rubbers. No matter how I tried, I couldn’t get a clean image without messing around with the position once against my eyes. I eventually fixed this by removing the stock rubbers and using these instead…. AmScope EG-SM Microscope Eyepiece Eyeshields or Eye-guardsAfter carefully removing the lip on the bottom of these with a sharp knife, they fitted the Vortex’s perfectly…. held on with a little goop. Note…. I now don’t use the swivel eye relief feature as these eyepieces space out more from the lens…. that, and because they are angled to stop light getting in at the sides, wouldn’t make these a good choice for users with glasses.I have found that I can use the Vortex’s freehand without much problem, but I also use a mono-pod for extended viewing which works great. Nice case. Overall, quite a nice binocular for the money, clean visuals, but unfortunately, I’m not blown away…. its a shame, I really wanted to be….Update….I’ve just change the eyepiece rubbers again to these: Eyepiece Eyeshields or Eye-guards for AmScope SE300 SE400 Series Stereo MicroscopeThey are stiffer than the EG-SM’s, have more eye socket clearance and fit perfectly and more securely on the Vultures without any modification. They do need to be used with the swivels out as they are shorter. Again, not a good choice for eyeglass wearers, but for me, they work far better than the stock rubbers.

great product. unexpected clarity in many conditions including low light. used range shooting on cloudy day at 300-500 yards and was able to pick up bullet impacts on white painted steel ar 500 plate easily. also used glassing for deer out of truck in low light before dark and outstanding clarity and brightness. The quality of glass in this price range is staggering.downside: Very heavy. would not want to pack around neck, but this power would more likely be used for stationary glassing anyway.

Wirklich tolles Glas. Ich hab eines für die Dämmerung gesucht.Ich habe jetzt ein Swarovski. Fast kein Unterschied.
