The Moccamaster KBS coffee maker features a glass carafe and a manual-adjust brew-basket which provides adjustability in how fast coffee flows into the carafe. The KBS brews a full 32oz pot of coffee in six minutes. Coffee is then held on our unique hot plate; which is engineered with a separate, independent element that rolls heat into the coffee to ensure an even taste from the first cup to the last drop. The hot plate holds coffee at 180° F, while never burning your coffee.

For about $300 for a coffee machine, made in Holland, no less, I expected something decent. Especially given the reviews and SCAA endorsement.What a disappointment. It’s plasticky. Lightweight. Cheaply made. Poorly executed and poorly designed.The shower head dribbles the water unevenly across the bed of coffee. If I had put the included cover on ( which serves no purpose) I might not have noticed, but much of the coffee is not directly wet by a steam of water. That means uneven non-optimal extraction. Period. Deal killer.What’s the point if having water the right temperature if 1/4 of the coffee isn’t getting wet properly. You could reach in and stir things around, but seriously, for $300?You’ll make much better coffee with a cheap cone filter and pour over kettle. Or buy a BUNN VPR. Same price, but with a much better shower screen and built like a tank. The BUNN can get messy if you over fill or grind too fine, but always makes a pot of properly extracted coffee.

Brews quickly at the perfect temperature, smaller profile perfect if space is an issue, and is simply the best brewer you’ll ever own! If you don’t roast your own beans as I do, purchase some from a reputable roaster and store beans in an Airscape canister. Grind immediately before brewing and don’t buy a surplus of beans…a 10 day supply will assure that you’ll have fresh coffee in your cup.

I was disappointed with the less expensive drip machines. Would recommend the brand to anyone who wants a really good, easy to use coffee maker – makes wonderful coffee. I do thank the customer who mentioned the difference in US volume of cups – I bought the smaller one which is perfect for my needs as the only coffee drinker in my household. So, advise future customers to read other reviews and company info to select the size they need.I bought the one with the warming plate and glass carafe – the coffee stays warm and the last cup is as good as the first 🙂
