Amazon Customer Service gets an A+ but Shark gets an F. This vacuum worked very well for 8 weeks – used it once a week, so used it 8 times total. The roller brush stopped rolling once around the 6th use because of the roller brush getting heavily wrapped in dog and girls long hair (took a year for prior other vacuums to do this) so we used scissors to cut the matted hair and remove from roller brush. Then the roller brush worked fine again for 2 more uses then it just stopped rolling mid-use. Very few hairs on it this time, not enough to need to cut/remove. The Brush Roll Button was properly engaged, the Brushroll Indicator light was off. The roller brush rotated freely when spun with our hands. When we tried to remove the roller brush housing plate to look at the belt we found several Phillips head screws and 5 Allen screws. 4 of the 5 Allen screws were not removable because they had been stripped (rounded out inside by an automated Allen wrench over turning) by the manufacturer. So we were unable to disassemble to look. I called Amazon Customer Service who gave me Shark Customer Service number on which I reached a woman who told me disassembling would have voided the warranty so she was glad we couldn’t do it. She said I needed a new base for the vacuum and I needed to purchase that because it’s due to wear. In just 8 uses. When I explained how wrong that is, she offered to send it free of charge but I would have to pay for shipping which would be $20. I was already $180 in and didn’t think we should pay ANYTHING more. She said that’s all Shark will do. I called Amazon Customer Service again to report what Shark told me and Amazon Customer Service immediately refunded the full purchase price and sent me a free return shipping label so that they can show Shark the problem just as a teaching case. The refund was truly immediate and I bought another brand vacuum. Thank you Amazon Customer Service for protecting this customer from lousy manufacturers like Shark.

The vacuum was delivered on June 21, 2017, and died on August 28, 2017. Nothing happened during the less than 12 times it was used which would have caused it to quit working except for poor quality of the unit. Trying to deal with their customer service was frustrating at best. The worst part is that they stick their customers with paying the shipping costs to replace products that are under warranty. I cannot recommend either the product or the company.

After 4 years of light use, the main drive belt finally broke. On any vacuum cleaner, belt replacement should be rote. On Shark NV501 It is extremely difficult to access the belt, there are several hidden screws (under wheels, in deep holes), and when they are all removed, the bottom unit destabilizes and various parts detach, including electrical wiring. Replacement belts for “NV500 series” typically are too short (we’re still looking for NV501 specific belt). Called Shark customer service simply to get the correct part number for the belt. Shark does not sell the belts, Shark does not even have the part number, and warned that installing a non-Shark belt voids the warranty because Shark offers a replacement part – the entire floor unit for $83. Or the unit can be shipped to/from Shark at customer’s expense (about $100) to replace the belt, which they said they do not have.Update: Found the proper belt on my own: Gates 231-3GT-6. That means: circumference=231mm; width=6mm; number of teeth = 77, at vacbelts or misumi. $10.

OK this is just crap! Purchased it July 9 2017 and today October 8, it quit working. No power, Just stopped. We have a master bedroom with carpet and an area rug in the great room. Otherwise our floors are tile and wood. There are two senior adults living in this house so there is very low traffic and mess. This is unacceptable and beyond belief. So for $200.00 I got to use a vacuum for three months and I can’t seem to return this item. Prior to this I had an Electrolux for almost 15 years. What has happened to quality? Please buyer beware. Do not buy from Amazon. Go to a retailer near by where you can walk in with the item and get some kind of refunder exchange. I can’t even find a way to contact Amazon to ask WHY!!! This is beyond, beyond. I am done.

Lasted 2 months before breaking down, would give it 0 stars. Now got to deal w all the hassle of warranty, shipping and what I didn’t think would need to do. It’s not a professional vacuum in any way!!!

I have only been using this for a few weeks, but so far I am very happy with it! It is half the weight of my previous Bissell, yet still does the job. I love the lift-away feature for doing the stairs . Suction is good, easy to see in the canister all that is being picked up. I would have liked to have had a slightly longer main hose on it. Even with the wand attachment and crevice tool attached, it is a stretch to reach the celing corners, but overall, so far, I am really happy with this purchase.

I have never owned a Shark product before and infant had never heard of them. This is my first one and I just love it. Its weight and balance is right on. The versatility of it with all the “useful” attachments makes it even better. This machine truly is the cats ass when it comes to build, design, and functionality. Pete

Easy to use easy to manipulate all the parts and pieces. I thought that this model came with other wide brush attachments that lets you get under the bed, that would have made it perfect other wise 4 out of 5.

Comes apart easily to clean. It picks up dirty and dog hair, does a great job. I had an early version, lasted for 5 years so I bought the newer version and it is just as good.

Excelente producto, tengo dos perros y levanta perfectamente los pelitos. Mi casa se aspira todos los días y es ligera para traerla por toda la casa, incluyendo escaleras.

This vacuum is the best bang for your buck, you get similar quality suction/power you’d get from a Dyson for a fraction of the cost. Highly recommend.
