This could have been a 4/4+ review, but the beautiful shade of red pushes this to a 5-star. I’d normally not let something as individualistic as color preference influence a rating, but I have to in this case. I was so tired of always seeing the standard black/chrome/stainless ovens, that I decided to try to find something with some life and color to it. This fit the bill. It’s not what used to be called a fire engine red, but it’s more of a cherry or ruby red. Yes, one can find the occasional retro-style microwave, with a color choice, but there aren’t too many of them. There are a few minor issues, which for some might warrant a slightly lower review. (It does seem that nearly all microwave ovens these days, even high-end ones, average four stars). The plastic film over the keypad is quite thin, and has, over a few months, pulled away slightly from one of the numbers. Plus, the lettering on the keypad is quite small and light, which makes it hard to clearly make out, unless there is bright light. (I believe another reviewer mentioned these two things). Not big deals, taken as a whole. Finally, it seems that most ovens these days appear to have rather flimsy-seeming cases, although sometimes the stainless steel on some models cover that up. This oven’s case seemed typical in that regard, until I realized that it somehow survived some of the worst shipping conditions that I’ve ever encountered. The cardboard box had large rips and gouges, as if the result of a major drop. Plus, the manufacturer’s printing and design was nearly illegible from fading, looking like the container had been in a puddle of water. I nearly didn’t accept the package at delivery, in fact. The point being, if this microwave could have survived all of that extreme abuse, and still function normally, then it naturally must be a well-made product.

I really like this one. It’s a beautiful berry red color. The interior is nicely done. It has a clock. It’s simple to operate, but mostly I love how it warms up food. It’s get food nice and hot very quickly when on hi power. It arrives already programmed to hi power. It’s very simple to change the power. There’s a manual included. The cord is pretty short. This microwave is mid size. This one is a size up from the really small microwaves. It’s big enough for the table to turn when defrosting a whole chicken. It holds full size bags of popcorn with room to spare. I use the microwave for defrosting, popcorn, and warming foods. I don’t like to cook in the microwave, but this is powerful enough to cook foods. I’m replacing a cheap Walmart special….it was nice while it lasted…..which wasn’t very long…..about 2 years. It was under 40. That one started holding a lot of moisture after a while and interior enamel wore away and it began to spark. I think the price on this very good. It’s a good quality microwave. It’s built sturdy. The interior and exterior is solid. I really like it.UPDATE; There is a very thin film of plastic covering the number pad on this. It’s so thin, you may not realize it’s on there. I didn’t. The number pad or control pad starts looking scratched up and worn; but it is really just the plastic film put on by the manufacturer for protection during shipping shipping that is scratched and worn looking. It will peel right on off after it starts wearing…. but not initially. Also, the buttons will work better with it off.

Wanted a red microwave. Replaced old one just like this one. Ordered again after old one died after using for several years. Like the quick cooking choices like popcorn and bread.
