The official spotting scope of the U.S. Armys XM110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System (SASS). The Multicoat 4 lens system optimizes light transmission for peak brightness, resolution, and contrast, even at the highest magnification settings.

Folded light path technology provides powerful magnification in a lightweight, compact design (just 12.4″ long and 37 oz). The Front Focal reticle magnifies the reticle along with the image, so you can estimate range at any power setting using the Mil Dot or Tactical Milling Reticle.

The universal, -20 thread tripod attachment is standard. Digital camera compatible, it makes capturing images easy.

The McCann Rail accessory allows you to adapt your spotting scope for night-vision and other accessories.

Accessories for the Mark 4 spotting scope give you powerful, performance enhancements for a variety of tactical situations and weather conditions.

Includes a protective, soft-side case that remains on the spotting scope during viewing for maximum utility. Incredibly rugged and absolutely waterproof.

The Leupold Mark 4 spotting scope with Mildot reticle is an excellent product and Amazon’s price is the lowest anywhere. The power and clarity provided by the scope are perfect for long range target shooting. I’m sure it would also be perfect for any activity where there’s a need to see things at a great distance and see them clearly. The scope itself is very rugged and is wrapped in a protective case that is left on when using the scope. I’m really happy with this product and would recommend it without reservation.

Excellent spotting scope, very clear to spot 5.56 holes at 100 yards and 50 bmg holes past 300 yards. Worth the money. Be sure to purchase the anti reflective devise aswell. It also works as a sun shade

With most anything you eventually arrive at a point where you can spend a LOT more money that yield minuscule increases in performance or quality. To many, spending $1,500 on a simple spotting scope might seem ludicrous, but the optical performance of this Leupold Mark 4 spotting scope are worth every penny. Sure, there may be considerably more expensive scopes out there that perform marginally better, if at all, whereas this scope simply, in no uncertain terms, CRUSHES any sub-$500 scope. The difference is staggering. It is SO sharp, SO clear, SO contrasty and colorful, and works under even the most abysmal lighting conditions, that you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it. Factor in the build quality, excellent, almost hydraulic zoom and focus controls, all-weather performance, world-class anti-fog and anti-glare coatings, near complete absence of chromatic aberration (“purple fringing”) light weight, diminutive proportions, excellent warranty, MADE IN USA construction, and ubiquitous user support across the Internet, and all of the parts add up to a modest marvel of optical legerdemain. At full zoom the extreme edges are practically as sharp as the center. Distortion is minimal to non-existent. Color and contrast remain high at extreme magnifications (most extreme zooms have a more “washed-out” look at maximum magnification). It’s a great little package that, albeit somewhat pricey, is actually one of those rare items of value that make you feel like you actually got away cheap! It’s like getting a Bentley for the price of a Lexus.

The fact that US sniper teams use this same model scope is a pretty good recommendation to start with. I have the mildot reticle which I like over the TMR. Just personal preference but only because I am used to mildots. The optics are truly exceptional and in my opinion compare favorably to European brands costing $1000 more. But what this scope gives you is the ability to range your target very accurately once you get the hang of how to use mildots or the TMR. Being front focal plane it will range the same regardless of the power setting. 12x or 40x it makes no difference. You just need to do some homework to get the average height or length of whatever it is you’re hunting/ranging and be able to plug that measurement into the formula (hgt of target x 1000/mildot reading = range to target). I’ve practiced using my Mark 4 and verifying my estimate with a Zeiss laser rangefinder and then trying to burn that image of whatever I am looking at into my eyeball memory banks. And it’s also a challenge to try that in reverse order. Makes for a fun afternoon with a buddy. But to the point, I think this is a superior spotting scope for a hunter or tactical shooter. Fantastic optics, easy to use, comes with a very nice and usuable Cordura cover and carrying strap, compact, backpack friendly size, very sturdy, reliable, did I say terrific optics?! And you have those mildots (or TMR….your preference) compatible with just about any tripod or window mount and has a camera adaptor available as an option plus it has Leupold’s terrific warranty and customer service. Honestly, after hunting with the reticle I don’t know how I ever used a standard spotting scope because having an accurate distance to the target (and not just ranging for the actual shot but also determining just how far away you might have to stalk to get that shot)just make this scope so useful. 5+ Stars!footnote: I’ve had people look through the scope at matches, the kind where you have a shooter, spotter/scorer and the third guy working the pits. Everyone who has looked through the scope was amazed at the clarity. At 300 meters you can see 30 cal holes in thepaper. Once you’ve used really great optics like this (or Leica, Swarovski, Zeiss or the like) you’re pretty much ruined for life.Old Swiss saying…………..Pay for quality and you only cry once!
