I love my Kitchen Aid mixer. I make bread almost every Friday and use the flat paddle extensively. I also use the wire whisk a lot.The main problem I have with this mixer, and this is true for various other mixers, not only from kitchenaid, is the quality of the dough hook and paddle attachment that are included in the purchase. If you do a search on Amazon for these two items, you’ll discover that there are two varieties of these attachments. The cheaper ones, which are the ones included with this mixer, are shiny grey metal. They run less than $20. Then there are the white, coated attachments, which are about 3 times the cost of the grey ones. Why? Because if you put the grey ones in the dishwasher, or if you have washed them by hand many times, they become dull and coated with a dark grey powder. The powder comes off on everything it touches, including the dough or batter you would use it for.The User’s Manual explains that they shouldn’t go in the dishwasher. Unfortunately, it lists three types of beaters. Only the grey ones have this problem. But because there are no photographs illustrating the difference between the burnished aluminum and the stainless steel ones, it’s easy to be confused.Secondly, read the Users’ manual carefully! You cannot use the dough hook on settings higher than 2. And you cannot use it for more than 5 minutes.I asked a company representative about this. She recommended that one use the paddle attachment to mix the dough and switch to the dough hook for kneading. She told me that 5 minutes using the dough hook on a kitchen aid mixer is equal to 10 minutes kneading with another mixer.I haven’t myself performed any comparisons, but when I followed her instructions my dough came out beautifully. So, on the whole I am very pleased with my Kitchenaid 600 Professional. I never thought I needed one until my husband bought me one several years ago. Now I’d find it difficult to give up!
Maybe this is more of a 3.5 stars. Hard to decide. So far it hasn’t broken, but I do wonder about this thing…Pros:-The motor is definitely more powerful than the regular kitchen aid (great for large batches of dough), and it holds more volume, so it’s great for larger batches.Cons:-It’s very hard to push the bowl in… as in you really have to push hard – so much that I wonder if it’s really good for the machine or if everything actually fits properly. And you also have to push with your hand in the bowl at the very bottom/center or it just won’t lock into place. And if you take the bowl out and realize it needs more mixing, you have to stick your hand in your batter, because that’s literally the only way to get the bowl to lock in.-It’s LOUD. Very, very loud.-None of the attachments actually reach close enough to the bottom/sides of the bowl. So everything you make needs to be very large quantity or it won’t mix well. More so than with the smaller kitchen aids. And even then, you constantly have to stop and scrape the sides with a spatula to make sure everything is getting mixed in.
I ordered the KitchenAid Professional 600 series to up my mixing game. I was a little concerned about the excessive grease on all the moving parts and a small scratch, but whatever. I cleaned it up and it was good to go. Then I register it with KitchenAid and find out that it’s been refurbished. Now it makes more sense. I go back and check, and sure enough, nowhere in the description does it say anything about being refurbished. When I pay $400 for a mixer, I expect a NEW $400 mixer.

I wish I would have bought a 2nd tilt head mixer. This mixer feels like it was made much more cheaply than the 4-5 qt tilt head mixer. I do not like how loud it is and it sounds like it is laboring when mixing small batches. It is Not a good mixer in comparison to the 1st mixer I have from kitchen aid, (the tilt head) . I wish I would have sent it back right away. I would buy a second tilt head before I buy another mixer like this. For the money and the extra capacity, I do not think it’s worth it. Save your money! Bigger is not always better.

For the price, this machine was not worth the effort to even order it! I specifically ordered it so that I could make bread, which calls for 12 cups of flour. After 2 minutes of kneading, the machine stopped running! I let it cool as instructed in the book, and 30 seconds into the kneading sequence again, it stopped running. At that point, I washed everything up and packed it up for a return. Thought Kitchen Aid was supposed to be a good quality and long lasting product – not so. Then, to return it, Amazon charged me $65.03! Talk about adding insult to injury! Don’t waste your time ordering one of these. The motor was not strong enough to handle making 4 loaves of bread. Very, very disappointing.
I invested in the Professional Series thinking that the metal gears and other features would mean it would last for ages. It worked fine for about five years of very occasional use (I only used it a few times a year — Christmas cookies, occasional biscuits/bread making, that sort of thing). Even though I’d purchased the model I thought was made with higher quality materials, I was always careful to not ask too much of it — for example, I never used cold butter straight from the fridge. In spite of this, it now runs but with no “power” behind it. I can beat eggs or whip cream (maybe) but it can’t “push through” even softened butter and flour. Customer service wasn’t very helpful when I sent an inquiry. I now have a thirty-pound doorstop on my kitchen counter.

Hello, so i’m super happy because this is my first kitchenaid mixer though i have worked with many before because i’m a cook. The mixer arrived fast and I love the Majestic Yellow. I already made bread, cookies and royal icing. All the mixing it’s done perfectly, but the noise! OMG… I hadn’t notice it was so LOUD! I had to knead my pizza dough for 10 mins and I had to put plugs on my hears lol. Usually in restaurant kitchens is loud (robotcoupe, dishwasher, fan, people talking, etc) so i haven’t noticed how noisy a kitchenaid really is…I googled and saw that apparently it’s supposed to be this loud… To be honest I wish it could be a bit quieter. I can understand that a machine like this will never be super quiet, but I do hope Kitchenaid puts some work on lowering the noise levels because damn! It feels like the machine is crying for help! I feel bad for it lol.I’m glad i bought it on sale because if I had paid full price for it, this issue would have bothered me more. Come one KitchenAid, you can do better!

Empire Red — one of the best colours ever — and featured on a great piece of kitchen gear. This mixer has the power to deliver great breads and doughs. The included pour shield eliminates a lot of mess associated with the slow addition of flour into a moving mixture. One caveat: this is not for home-style single loaf recipes. If you’re planning to make small batches of cookies, muffins, breaks, etc., you may be sorely disappointed because this is designed to properly work medium to large loads. It can make dough for 6 loaves of bread and enough for 18 pizzas at once. When we want to mix smaller quantities, we use our KitchenAid Artisan series mixer instead. We would definitely buy this item again.

The first and only time I used the machine was to make a batch of cinnamon buns. The write up on the machine said it could handle 14 cups of flour. It could not. I had to take it out and knead by hand. Next time I will try a 1 and a half times recipe, instead of a double. Also, the bowl, when I went to grease it, black residue that you usually see from aluminum was all over the paper towel, that also was seen in my dough. I thought for sure the bowl was stainless steel. A little disappointing. I will have to check and see if there is a way to treat the bowl so that doesn’t happen anymore. I am hoping it was because it was new. ( I did wash the bowl first )

although a bit expensive, this is the real deal. works just as well as “the old ones” if not better. I just wished the basic tools could rake the bottom of the bowl a bit better, but the accessories you can buy fit a lot better. it’s a lot more expensive than the head tilt and I would think the head tilt would have more moving parts, but the motor is clearly stronger on this one (used it to make pizza dough a lot and it has never struggled).
I used this mixer a couple of weeks ago to make bread and it couldn’t turn the dough at all. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong and thought nothing of it. Tonight I tried to make sugar cookies. The mixer could not beat butter and sugar. Used both wisk and paddle, but they could not turn one cup of butter and one cup of sugar. I need the seller to contact me in order to remedy the situation. This is a faulty unit! I only wish that I used it earlier.
I am new to baking ,but I do make my own bread by hand , this Pro 600 is great and saves a lot of time kneading by hand.I have had this for 2 months now and love it. I have heard people saying this is noisy , I find it just fine , mind you I have heard louder Pro 600 online video’s . Mine is just fine and the sound is no problem , I expect and hope it last a long time.Great machine you can not go wrong.
