I have had the large Pro model of this Kitchenaid. It is a wonderful machine. But it is heavy. Unless you have some place to keep it on the counter, or at least at waist level to lug it around, it is HEAVY to use. I read that people tend to concentrate on the wattage of the machine. More important is the torque–how the energy of the motor gets translated into working power.I really like the lighter weight and comparatively powerful motor of this Classic Plus mixer. I noticed that this is the model they use on America’s Test Kitchen and Cook’s Country on PBS. It has the right size bowl for the size batches I have been making lately. And my old grinder and pasta attachments work fine with it. Highly recommended.

I’m going to assume there are people reading who are going through the same debates I had.First and foremost, do I even need a stand mixer? Well… No. But it is SO much easier!! I find I bake more because it’s already out on my countertop. With a hand held mixer, I have to get it out, find the attachments, get a bowl… Ya know, typical lazy people problems, but really did detour me from making things if my time was limited. Now I just pour my ingredients and go. I also love that I can turn it on and do something else. So it shaves some minutes from baking and cooking.Second: Will it take a lot of space? That just depends on how much space you have in general. I live in a one-bedroom apartment. I don’t have the most space in the world, but I have the mixer out with my other kitchen tools and sitting at an angle, if that makes sense. So it doesn’t take up much room at all.Third: Which line of KithchenAid Mixer should I get?I debated for a very long time on this. I must note that I was debating with Black Friday quickly approaching. I scoured every website, every store, and newspaper circular looking for the best deal and what would suit me. I was put off by the classic line because it didn’t come with a handle on the bowl and the lack of colors. I know the latter seems silly, but I like for my kitchen to be aesthetically pleasing.I could get the Professional line cheap at Sam’s in the right color. However, I don’t like how the bowl mounts and dismounts because it may spill batter and… It’s a little overkill for me. That thing is huge. I had actually decided that the Artisan line was best for me. BUT… the classic was such a good deal on Amazon for Black Friday, I couldn’t resist. The savings made it worth it and allowed me to purchase a 4.5 quart bowl with a handle and still come out about $70 less than the Artisan line. As for the color, I found that there’s a whole movement of people who decorate their mixers (some bloggers are very opposed to this). I got a cute decal in mint green fairly cheap. I actually like the decal much better than the aqua color I was so dead set on getting. It works wonderfully. It doesn’t take up nearly as much room as I thought it was going to. It looks great in my kitchen. It has saved me a lot of hassle – especially since I have two bowls now. I’m so in love with it, I’m thinking about getting more attachments. This was the best purchase I have made for my kitchen in a long time.

I just started to use this yesterday to make brownies, when I finished and wash the bowl the top rim of the bowl had rust on it. I had to scrub it off and I only got a little bit out. Knowing Kitchen Aid makes the best mixers I didn’t expect this from them. The bowl claims stainless steel, why did this happened? I don’t know. I will be contacting Kitchen Aid regarding this.

I love my 40-year old KitchenAid and I love my new one. However, the flat beater, with it’s flimsy plastic coating is disappointing. This is a higher-end mixer and should have a flat beater from which the plastic coating doesn’t crack off. Better yet, a stainless steel beater…and not the “coated” metal one they offer. I use this mixer constantly and this was also an issue with my old one. Why does KitchenAid sell such a great mixer with such a crappy flat beater? I don’t know. Can anyone tell me? And why don’t they offer a better replacement beater in stainless steel. It would be annoying to have to buy a stainless steel beater, when one should come with the mixer, but I would have done it. I think others might have too. Come on, KitchenAid…get with the program and supply excellent utensils with your great mixers!

It is very obvious that the Kitchen Aid’s quality went down the drain. I owned this product (probably a different model) for about 15 years now which still works fine. I bought a new one about 8 months ago for our cottage. After only a few uses, the metal ring above the container fell off. I can not put it back. Now, it is a nuisance to ship it to the manufacturer to have it fixed. I hope they will improve quality.

This product is not new it appeared to be used. There were finger prints all over it and oil marks and dust. You can tell it’s not new by looking at the bottom where the feet are they appear to be very dirty. I’m sending this item back as I was wanting a brand new mixer not a used one.

new out of box unit totally covered in fingerprints and black gear oil. Unit paint on lower base peeling off I am thinking this is a refurbish but I did not buy a refurbish. With summer and kids out of school i don’t have time to return now and this is a replacement on one that was stolen.I am saddened by you kitchen-aid

Seems to work OK. I guess because I bought the cheapest model that was on special for Christmas, I shouldn’t complain but…I bought my previous mixer (exactly the same model) 20 years ago. It made ALL my bread, muffins, cookies for all that time. It ground all my hamburger and rolled out all my pasta as well. Amazing machine. You cannot burn out the motor on these things. But the gears were wearing out and the accessories were wearing out the attachment fittings so I decided to replace it.This new model is just made less well. The bushings are loose and the machine jumps around and is noisy. The most insulting thing is that the bowl does not have a handle on it. It reminds me that I bought the cheapest machine and don’t deserve the best quality.

Wonderful mixer! This whisk mixer is actually better than my other 6QT as it mixes the entire depth of the bowl, though I’m a little underwhelmed by the dough hook, which doesn’t seem to want to do the job as well as my other mixer.

I was so excited to get this mixer. It mixes very well and I even can see and taste the difference in the textures of what I bake. However, the bowl is narrow so it’s difficult to add ingredients as it mixes (lack of space). As well, because it’s the bowl is narrow you need to turn off the motor in order to scrape the sides and then turn it on again to continue.

This was a downgrade in size from the larger bowl that is lifted with a handle. This version allows me to add ingredients without making a mess or using the plastic attachment. Even if I have to make 2 batches of something large, I’d rather use this smaller version where the large arm tilts back.

Absolutely fantastic. My boyfriend got great deal on this on Cyber Monday so he was able to get this for me for Christmas. I was so happy, had wanted one for years. Super easy to use, easy to clean. So many attachments available to increase its usefulness. Biggest problem is it is so easy to bake now, I have to be careful to try to use healthier recipes lol
