I am loving this so far and don’t even have any attachments for it yet. Due to a lack of space, I went with the small mixer; I was worried that it wouldn’t be big enough, but it is plenty big. I made a large batch of cookies and could have easily doubled the recipe, no problem. What a time saver from my hand held. Can multi-task the whole time. It seems to be very well made. (Not lightweight plastic.) No wonder all of my research pointed to this mixer.

I really like the smallness of it, fits under my upper cabinets so I can leave it out. Unfortunately the motor is much weaker than the regular size KitchenAid mixer. I had to turn it up to 8 to mix at a regular speed.

I started with the classic cake recipe – cream butter and sugar, then add eggs. The beater doesn’t reach to the sides nor the bottom. I had eggs on the bottom and butter/sugar stuck to the sides. Very difficult to use the spatula to bring the ingredients to the middle of the bowl even with the mixing head lifted. I am SO DISAPPOINTED. After resisting a stand mixer for 35 years, I gave in this Thanksgiving, with the sweet deal on the mini mixer, which fits my countertop. I had to pull out my hand mixer and finish the job properly. Why doesn’t the beater reach the sides and bottom? Why?Update: Second use worked better – pancake batter this time. However, when I pulled the beater off the top shelf of the dishwasher it had 2 substantial chips, one on each “shoulder”. I contacted Kitchen Aid for a replacement beater. One more incident and I will return this and go back to using a hand mixer.

I guess I expected better from the maker of the full-size mixer I’ve used happily for years and years. Unlike its larger sibling, this small mixer isn’t quite up to par. The good: it’s lighter, smaller, and easy to leave on the counter. The bad: it seems flimsy, as if it were made of lesser materials, and the accessories are definitely less sturdy (the main mixing attachment chipped after only three uses). I still leave it out on the counter and use it to make a batch of chocolate chip cookies, or a couple loaves of banana bread, but it is *just* up to the task. Don’t expect it to be merely a smaller version of the excellent larger mixers. It’s smaller, but also lesser somehow. I bought it from Amazon’s Treasure Truck on an impulse. Unless you have a specific need that prioritizes size over everything else, I’d keep looking. Overall: meh.

I’ve wanted a KitcheAid stand mixer for years. This one is just the right size for us. I love it. It performs exactly as I expected and the smaller size and lesser weight make it ideal for our kitchen. Seems to have plenty of power. Recommended.

This machine is a toy compared to my mother’s 35yr old KitchenAid stand mixer. Not enough power, it couldn’t make a simple pizza dough. I had to keep scraping the sides of the bowl, because of dough hook was child sized. This machine may be adequate for whipped cream, can’t say much more than that.

Well, I wish I could give this a five star review but I’m finding a few flaws. First off the beater head does not reach the sides of the bowl and with the bowl being so high it is very tricky to use a spatula to help scrape the bowl… that being said, I have seen that there is a beater head with a scraper that could be purchased but my feeling is that the makers of KitchAid should supply this with the mixer. I also find it very messy to add things to the bowl and once again there should have been something supplied with the mixer. The cost of these appliances is not cheap and yes, they are heavy and well made but without the proper parts, it’s easier to use my hand mixer for my cheesecakes.
