Bought this as a gift. I’m certain after seeing it unwrapped that these have been reconditioned. The stainless bowl had a small dent in it and there were fingerprints on the mixer straight out of the sealed box. I think it is terrible that they don’t advertise that they are reconditioned. There’s nothing wrong with getting a reconditioned mixer, but advertise the truth and let people make the decision for themselves.

I use this mixer to make bread. Even though I owned a kitchen aid for many years, this was a smaller one therefore I followed the instructions on the amount of flour and the correct speed as indicated in the instruction book that came with the mixer. At first it worked great, but then after four months the bowl suddenly came undone in the middle of kneeding. It was scary. So the next time I used even less flour than was indicated. The same thing happened again. When I called Kitchen Aid Customer Service I was told that the instructions in the book were incorrect and that the total ingredients for my mixer could only be six cups, including liquid and flour. That’s incredible! Why didn’t they just tell me it was a faulty model. I am very disappointed in Kitchen Aid.

DO NOT BUY THIS. Its an unsafe product. The jar comes out while the motor is running! so disappointed with Kitchen Aid. This is the third time I gave them a chance (this was my 3rd stand mixer). The white ceramic dough hook coating chips after 4-5 uses. Please do not buy this – its so dangerous when the bowl starts to come out and the blade is still moving. Very very scary.

The stainless steal bowl and or other parts BLEED A GRAY -BLUE substance into the dough!! I have sent mine back to Amazon and they were very helpful in doing so. I would NOT reccommend any appliance like this one that soils my baking/ foods! A sad day that the WONDERFUL old kitchen Aids of the past are now defective .

I bought my mixer less then two years and when it quite working I took it to the shop on August 11 I got it out today and he gave me the screws that were in it and he said they weren’t even authorized KitchenAid screws they were the wrong ones put in I had looks like to me that somebody sold me a refurbished mixer as a new one it cost me $70 for a KitchenAid That is less than two years old to be repaired and also when we were bringing ours in there is two of other people bringing in their kitchen aid .what’s going on I gave my daughter my KitchenAid I had for thirty years and she is still using it. I only bought a new one because I wanted a red one to match My newly remodeled kitchen

We bought this mixer about 3 month ago after reading such great reviews on Amazon. The first mixer we got worked great for the first 2 month, until one day, while preparing bread dough, the bowl just came off and started flying around the mixer actually getting someone hurt. We called KitchenAid support and were very happy to hear that they would replace the mixer free off charge. About a week later we got a new mixer and were very start using it again. To our surprise not only did the mixer make a strange ticking noise from the engine but once we used it to make bagel dough the bowl just wouldn’t stay in place and started to fly around the mixer again! of course Kitchen Aid support are sending us another mixer but this is outrages! They only provide warranty for 1 year, so if this is a recurring issue, it might just happen again once the warranty period is over and then we will have to replace parts at our own cost! This is a very expensive mixer and not a one year appliance. KitchenAid should provide much better quality than what we got from out two mixers. Think carefully before buying this mixer if you are love making bread, since as it seems this mixer just doesn’t hold up to the expectations, and probably just not build strong enough for making bread dough. We are very disappointed with this mixer so far, hope the replacement will be better and doesn’t brake apart again (especially not after the warranty period is over). We have attached a video showing what exactly is happening to the mixer – besides being very disappointing this is very dangerous!

Update: I found the answer to my biggest issue with this new stand mixer. Check out part number KSM5THWWSS on KitchenAid’s website. It will cost you $40, which is robbery, but it actually fits this stand and is 100% dishwasher safe. I have run it through the dishwasher several times and it doesn’t gray at all. Now I am happy with the stand mixer, but still knocking off a star for not including this necessary and expensive part with the mixer to begin with. Also, this was hard to find on their website and many people don’t even know this is a possible upgrade.We owned a KitchenAid for over a decade that we loved. All the accessories were dishwasher safe. With this new mixer, the instructions say the whisk is not dishwasher safe and to hand wash only. First, why would you decide to make an inferior product that is more difficult to use for the consumer? Nobody wants to sit and hand wash a whisk after a long day of cooking. Second, we forgot about this warning after decades of just throwing it in the dishwasher and it completely ruined the whisk. I have read that even hand washing can cause the same problem. You end up with the whisk top have a dark-gray oxidation that comes off on everything! Washing it over and over again doesn’t help, the gray stuff just keeps coming. We ended up giving up and throwing it out and we can’t find a good replacement part now. I am so unhappy with KitchenAid right now that I might be done with their products for good. The reas of the machine seems great, but the whisk is an important tool and will lead to problems for most users, even if hand washed (just look at the reviews for the replacement whisks). That is a deal breaker for me.

This mixer is one of those items for a baking enthusiast where if you don’t have one, it doesn’t seem like such a big deal but when you do get one, you can’t imagine life without it. I’ve had my mixer for about 9 months now and I absolutely can’t imagine my life without it. It makes any task that involves any form of mixing significantly easier, and mixes the contents to perfection. I got the mixer in the “Ice Blue” shade and it is so beyond gorgeous. It is a beautiful addition to my countertop and I constantly have people remarking on the gorgeous shade, reminding them of an old fashioned milk shake maker. I know the colour doesn’t really affect the performance but if you’re going to spend this much money on a mixer, at least get one as sexy as this one!! I’ve included a photo in my kitchen in natural daylight for a more true to life representation of what the colour looks like.Anyways about the machine… the machine itself is deceptively heavy and very sturdy. Its can whip or beat ingredients for long periods of time without getting overheated. I’ve never had the machine poop out on me. You really feel like you’re getting a solid product with this mixer. The capacity is perfect for I’d imagine most things a baker would be doing in their own home- small batches of muffins or cookies, cakes, icing, bread, mashed potatoes etc. The mixer comes with 5 different attachments- the wire whip, dough hook, flat beater, stainless steel bowl, and spray guard. This is where my review takes a bit of a turn– in my box, the wire whip came with a metallic coating, and the dough hook and flat beater came coated in paint so they are white. While I have had zero issues with my dough hook to date, the metallic coating on the wire whip constantly rubs off and finds itself in the food, and the paint on the flat beater has experienced significant chipping- oddly, on areas where the beater makes no contact with the bowl or attachment location. I absolutely never throw these pieces in the dishwasher and my mixer height is adjusted as per the directions so the only thing really left to blame is poor quality of the attachments. As well, the stainless steel bowl that came with the mixer locks into the mixer with grooves on the base which have been almost completely stripped like a screw in the 9 months of using the mixer and no longer locks into position, which is pretty disappointing given the product is less than a year old! Cheers to KitchenAid though as I contacted them a few weeks ago about these issues and they sent new replacements for all the damaged pieces, free of charge to me. Hooray for fantastic customer service. Mistakes can happen in production but when the company takes responsibility as KitchenAid did, you have a satisfied customer in me!Generally speaking, I think the quality of this product is absolutely fantastic. The machine itself is amazingly powerful and accomplishes everything I could expect and more. I think where people will notice the biggest differences in their cooking is when it comes to making doughs or breads. For Christmas my family always makes perogies from scratch and this year, I used the mixer for the dough instead and it was completely different. The dough hook was able to knead the dough enough to make it so smooth and light. I was floored at the difference from previous years when the dough was hand mixed and the dough had always seemed dense and lumpy no matter how much manual kneading you did. As for the new attachments, only time will tell how they hold up but so far I haven’t experienced any chipping on the flat beater or smudging on the wire whip which happened immediately after receiving the original attachments. I absolutely recommend this item, especially coupled with the fantastic service you can expect from KitchenAid in the case of any issues!!

The mixer is beautiful. Looks very well made. All metal construction. It comes with two metal beaters and one aluminum beater. I am really impressed with how easy it is to change beaters and how solid they are seated so they will not fall out like some hand mixers we have used. I am also impressed with the footprint of this mixer. I set it on our counter flush with the front of the counter and there is adequate room to tilt the head back without touching the cupboards above and behind the counter. Our cupboards are a bit lower than the standard so if yours are the standard height you will definitely not have any trouble. You may also be able to store the unit under the cupboard. The colour is perfect – a nice in-between alternative to red or orange. My wife loved the aluminum bowl with handle – she has a hand mixer with a stand now that has a large heavy glass bowl that she’s always been afraid of breaking so now she doesn’t have to worry about that and the handle will aid in handling the bowl as well…smart idea.

I bought this as a gift for my daughter and after nearly a year of use, she is still raving over it. I have since purchased some additional attachments (pasta maker, etc.) and the machine has proven to be very versatile, very well made, and the quality comes through in the finished products. I am very happy with this purchase. In addition, I needed it very quickly just before Christmas (2017) and it arrived faster than I had thought possible.

What’s not to love. Kitchen Aid Stand mixers are top notch. I love this colour, its a deep watermelon colour which is so bold and bright. The only issue I had with it was my Stainless Steel bowl would not clean. You have to clean the bowl before using it (obviously), but every time I cleaned it I would dry it down with a cloth and black would come off. Because of that, I didn’t use the bowl, I ordered a second glass bowl at the same time so I just used that one instead.Bowl aside, the mixer is really great, I’ve now had it for some time and I’ve even purchased a second glass bowl, the ice cream maker and next on my list is the pasta attachment.

Mixer was only used about a dozen times and now it won’t even start. Certainly not as good as the 40 + years old unit that I gave to my daughter when I bought this one. The old one is in use on a regular basis and is still going strong! Took unit to my appliance guy, since no warranty left on mixer. Brushes had melted into the armature. Repairman said that it was not worth fixing. Thanks, Whirlpool, for turning a fabulous product into a “still too expensive” piece of unreliable junk! Had to go out and buy a brand new stand mixer.
