So I returned the first one purchased because it did not have a spring to hold the beaters in place as shown in every flippin picture taken of this thing. When the new one arrived it was the same. After reading a couple of reviews, Kitchenaid feels it is perfectly safe to have whatever dough or batter you are mixing holding it your beater attachments. They have discontinued the spring. How frickin ignorant can they be? How much are they really saving here? The attachments flopped around in there sloppily and for the price I paid I was less than pleased. So I guess Kitchenaid has gone Chinese like the rest of the world and makes cheap crap now too. The good news is for a couple of bucks I went to Ace and purchased a spring that was 1/2″ i.d. and cut it to size and simply twisted it on. It works like a charm. Now that I can safely use it, I’ll report back on how it functions otherwise. Till then…

Making bread the first time. The bowl was locked on and the arm locked down. Kneading the dough on medium speed and the arm lifted up and the bowl went flying onto the floor and broke. Not the same quality of Kitchenaid from when I was young. Do not buy a glass bowl!

So far, I only have three gripes about this mixer. First is that if you are looking to buy this on Amazon, you will see as you scroll down a “frequently bought together” list that includes the KFE5T flex-edge beater and the KN1PS pouring shield that fits over the bowl. The KN1PS pouring shield does not fit the glass 5-qt. mixing bowl. It will be a waste of $20 if you buy it (unless like me you know someone with another model that it does fit).Second, navigating the KitchenAid world of accessories and attachments is a graduate level research project, with no guarantees that you will get what fits your mixer. If you have ever bought car stereo stuff from Crutchfield, you know how easy it is to put a given car type into their system and they will tell you what fits. KitchenAid should benchmark their system.Lastly, the whisk, mixing paddle, and dough hook provided are hand-wash only. If you want something dishwasher safe, you have to buy it separately. And as stated above, good luck in finding what fits your mixer. If you follow the instructions that only say the whisk should be hand-washed and put the paddle and/or dough hook in the dishwasher, the resulting black coating (that comes off on your hands/food) will take some doing to clean off.

I was excited when I first received this mixer for Christmas 2017, since I love to bake. Sadly, I’ve found that unless I hand fold any and ALL dry ingredients under liquids and/or already moistened ingredients, the dry ingredients fly everywhere, even at the lowest speed, and even with all of the various mixing attachments. Same happens when adding additional wet ingredients — must hand fold them under other ingredients, else everything flies everywhere! This mixer makes all of my baking projects take much longer to complete, due to having to hand fold in all ingredients. I never had to do that with my old Oster stand mixer. I considered purchasing the shield, until I read the many POOR reviews and that it only ‘kind of fits’ on the metal bowls and usually flies off.I would like my new stand mixer to be functional, rather than just pretty for display. Perhaps KitchenAid would consider designing a shield that actually works, fits, and stays put on both the glass and metal bowls…? OR providing a LOWER Low speed, that will actually GENTLY stir ingredients. I highly doubt that this product design was ever properly tested.

The color is great, since I’ve been trying to match all my small appliances to my stainless appliances. The one thing that I GREATLY object to is that the attachments are not dishwasher safe. I ruined my paddle in one spin through the dishwasher, and nothing you do can get off the stain. I called the company and was able to get a replacement paddle and a replacement dough hook covered in the white coating used with older machines, but there’s nothing you can do about the wire whisk. Don’t be like me and ignore their instructions, ’cause you will render the attachments unusable!

I believe this brand is highly overrated. This particular model is nothing more than decorative. The glass bowl began chipping after the third use. It is very difficult to lock it into position and that is what caused the bottom to chip at the grooves…. I’m really disappointed with this brand. Each mixer I buy from them breaks down within 1 year. They were definitely built better before they became popular.

I ordered this mixer to replace my small 4.5 kitchen aid that i’ve had for 8 years. To my dismay the first day i used the mixer it was making a LOUD squeaking sound. I figured it’s new, perhaps it needs to break in a little. On the second try we were making cookie dough & the squeaky sound was still there louder than ever! My husband said it probably needs a little lubrication , i call kitchen aid & ask, so we continued making the dough until almost done the motor started smoking filling the area with smoke we quickly turned it off & unplugged it because we tough it was going to cause a fire. 😡 I didn’t waste ANY time requesting a full refund, which in actuality was the only positive outcome to all this. Amazon had UPS pick up the very next day & refunded my money seamlessly. It’s just unfortunate the mixer was a dud & grateful there wasn’t a fire.

What a beautiful color!! These pictures do not do it justice, it looks like a pearl blue and oh my goodness!! The glass bowl makes it look so much better, I also have a white mixer and it has the metal bowl which isnt as attractive. I work for whirlpool making these and the first time I saw this color I knew I had to have it!! Months later I finally got the courage to buy it! I am not sucking up to my employer or trying to sell their products, but I love all of my Kitchen Aid products. The only thing wrong with it is the trim band gap which I probably wouldn’t even notice if I didn’t know to look for it.

The metallic azure colour is beautiful! This powerful workhorse makes baking a joy. Handles bread dough and heavy cookie dough like a champ. Only negative (thus deducted one star): straight out of the box, the burnished metal finish of the attachments (i.e. wire whip, flat beater and dough hook) were discoloured and mottled as though covered with mould before the protective finish was added. Very disconcerting, so will use white and stainless steel attachments from my older model. Also, read the numerous reviews on Kitchenaid site about the glass mixing bowl shattering very easily so will be cautious when using although I have had an older Kitchenaid glass bowl for several years with no issues. BTW: the cord/plug is black – for some reason I expected it to be white but that’s not a deal breaker. Quick delivery and well packaged. Overall extremely satisfied with purchase.

This is probably the most beautiful thing I have ever purchased! Love it. I had just picked up a black 4.5qt classic and almost-loved it but found the stainless bowl too narrow and the style a bit blah. Found this great deal so returned the other and upgraded. Just whipped up a batch of sugar cookies and it works swell. Only minor thing is it shakes/wobbles quite a bit with thicker consistencies (ie: cool butter and sugar on it’s own). Seems like all of the bolts and such are tight so I’m not sure what that’s about. Anybody else have this experience?

This mixer was a gift for my wife who has wanted one for years. We’ve used it over the holidays to make cookies, biscuits and pizza dough and it has worked flawlessly. The motor is plenty powerful for everyday use and the included attachments handle every mixing task we would need. Overall it’s a great product!

Bought another brand stand mixer but returned it in single use due to few issues. Than bought this one and it’s great! Highly Recommended for any home or professional bakers looking for a good durable stand mixer. This one is the best!

My first stand mixer, used mostly for dough (pasta and bread) but also made cookies, everything was so much easier with it

I love this mixer more than I love my children. Okay, maybe not, but it’s close.

Le bol est arrivé craqué à la base (dans le sceau) et craque un peu plus chaque fois que je le serre en place. Ça n’est pas normal. Je suis déçue… Pour le reste, c’est un vrai bijou.
