My Old KY Home –
The KitchenAid food chopper exterior is made from all plastic. The chop feature works much better than my other small chopper. The KitchenAid cuts veggies into more uniform peices with less mush. I like the wisk attachment too. I found the bowl more dificult to use and get in place for use. I am sure I will get used to it but it does not feel easy. There are many nooks and crannies to clean out once finshed. The manual states I can put the lid and bowl in the dishwasher but I would prefer not to. There is a cord wrap for storage that I also had to clean out before wrapping it up.

I have been needing a food processor since my ninja has cracks in the plastic on the bottom(it leaks and ninja won’t help me with a 2nd replacement. yes, two have cracked). I wanted something on the smaller cup size because I like to make marinades and sauces. I also do a lot of veggie things. I picked this based on the size, price and brand. I usually figure that KitchenAid is a tried and true brand that makes good products. I was almost immediately disappointed when I tried to get the processor together. None of the parts fit smoothly, I had to pretty much fight with it to get it to finally work. It did a bad job with a peanut sauce. Then I tried making a cauliflower mash with steamed cauliflower and it was lumpy and didn’t even get all the pieces. I found huge stalks of cauliflower in it. The motor sounded really weak and it just overall did a horrible job. I’m not going to keep something that doesn’t even process, not to mention that it’s impossible to line it up properly to get it to work. I literally HATED this. I returned it.

I love the 5-cup KitchenAid food chopper. I have the 3.5 cup and when making salsa, I always had to do it in two batches. Everything fits in the 5-cup one. It is easy to attach the bowl and I like that the pulse feature is on the lid. Very efficient.

I just got this 5 cup chopper. I have not used it yet, but I had questions while i was shopping. 1) The base is plastic. Everything is plastic except for the blades. 2) Color selection is limited. I wound up with grey. The 3.5 version has some very nice colors that don’t appear to be available in the 5 cup chopper. The grey chopper sorta matches my other grey KA appliances, but it’s obviously plastic and cheap looking. I suspect the base will mar over time. 3) The cord-storage setup is nice. it securely holds the cord. 4) Complaints about the lid seem out of line. I can easily remove and attach the lid and manipulate the on/off control. 5) The 5 cup capacity appears to be just right for an individual or couple’s occasional needs. I suspect the 3.5 version is too small for most users. I’ll update this after I use the chopper a few times.

good product. Only negative is that if you are not careful, the pouring container (while in the unit) may rotate just a bit, causing the unit not to run as a safety precaution. Make sure that each time you return the “handled pouring container” back into the unit that you fully rotate it into the lock position. Also, once you get the hang of taking the lid on and off, it becomes quite easy (in response to the negative reviews on the lid)

This is a perfect size for a small counter. It stores both blades and the cord wraps nicely.. it is large enough to chop a large onion. It has a variable speed which is great for controlling particle size. It seems well made , very little vibration and is very attractive .

Disappointed in the design of this product. The size of the container is just right but taking the lid off and replacing it is very awkward! Terrible design for a latch. Overall the chopper is well made and the bowl size is perfect but the bowl and lid were the killer. Item has been returned. No recommendation.
