Sometimes you need to keep things cool for the duration, and when most coolers will warm up, Polar will keep going for days. Five days, to be specific, is how long ice will last, even at temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. THAT, is insulation.
This is enabled by Ultratherm insulated body and UV inhibitors in lid to guard against sun damage.
Reinforced handles can handle being banged around, and threaded plug allows for easy drainage or hose hookup.
Throw this beast anywhere in car, and know that it’s safe with a snap-close lid and convenient tie-down loops. And when you aren’t in the process of grabbing yourself a refreshing, cool beverage, use it as a seat.
This is the ideal cooler for the long-haul.

Good price with plenty of storage , The lid hinges did break within the 1st year and was going to purchase replacements online , but I contacted Igloo and they shipped me the stainless steel ones free of charge . I really could’nt ask for more .

I got one that have a big gap on the left side of the lid. the right side is fine . with that gap , I cannot imagine that it will keep the cool for hours or even days.

i wrote a very positive review, shortly after i received this cooler, which was less than a year ago. a few months ago the latches fell off. the cooler still worked for our purposes without the latches, but yesterday the lid fell off. i do understand that things wear out, but we do not handle this cooler roughly at all. it should have lasted more than 11 months.

I have used Igloo Polar coolers before. They hold Ice & stay cool better than many other brands. The BIG problem with Igloos are the plastic hinges and latches. You will see other reviews confirming that this is a wide-spread design flaw with these coolers. So.. When shopping for a new 120 quart cooler for camping, I decided that the way to deal with this was to also buy a set of stainless hinges and stainless latches (all made by Igloo and advertised to fit this model cooler). The hinges fit fine & they are on the new cooler as we speak. They used the same holes and went on in about 5 minutes. The latches are a different story. I received the new latches (once again, advertised in the Amazon description AND on the package, to fit “Igloo 50-165 quart coolers”), and they DO NOT FIT! The upper latch assembly will go on & use the same holes as the plastic latch that came on it.. But, because of the contours of the cooler’s outer skin, there is NO WAY to match up the locking button that makes the latch stay shut. It just WILL NOT work! Furthermore, when I tried to return the item, Amazon said that it’s “Not Eligible for Return”. I had to go through the trouble of contacting Amazon and demanding a refund, which they obliged. The problem is not with Amazon. It’s with Igloo! So… What I have now is a decision. Do I return the Cooler for a more expensive one which I am confident won’t break.. Or do I keep this one, knowing that I will have to replace the CHEAP & FLIMSY plastic latches, at least every year? I’ll probably keep the cooler, ONLY because I can’t afford a Yeti or Pelecan ($$$).

The Good: great cooler size for the money. I used it for hunting and it held a quartered deer easily. The Bad: The plastic hinges are awful, they broke the first time I opened and used the cooler. If you buy this, just add the stainless steel replacement hinges to the order. You’ll thank yourself you did.The Ugly: The hinges are POS. Buy the metal hinges…. seriously.

My other 60qt igloo is over 25 years old. Great plastic latches and hinges that never broke. These hinges and latches look a lot cheaper. And after reading some of these reviews I’ll probably have to install some stainless steel latches and hinges sometime in the near future. That’s very disappointing. However, when you do get the stainless steel hinges and latches installed you’ll have a very durable cooler that should last for years. Ice melts after 3 days not 5.

Exceeds my expectations!! Very durable, large and light weight! Fits perfectly into my center console 26′ Mako boat. Fits right behind the leaning post. I did not want to screw fasteners to the floor so I just bungee corded it around the post. I haven’t been out for 5 days in 90 degree weather but have no doubt things would still be cold. After 8 hours in 105 degrees ice was still frozen rock hard. I highly recommend it for hard core fishermen as myself to keep your food, drinks or fish cold. (I just put fish in my live well). The top of the cooler has a ruler for you catch of the day.

Lid attachment screw fell out after second use. The screws for the hinges in the back are also coming out after second use. Lids does not fit tight, hinges on front are useless. They pop open anytime it gets bumped. Most of my ice melted the first day.Definitely disappointed in this cooler.
