So, I figured I would write a small review because I hesitated in buying this due some of the negative reviews. My honest answer after using it for 2 weeks. Don’t hesitate. I’ll list Pro’s and Con’s and you decided on your own.Pro’s:1. One coffee maker instead of 2. See, number 42. Uses K-cups or use the separate filter for your own. (Very easy to use and clean)3. Try and start a brew cycle for single serve with no water in the tank, it will let you know. (oops)4. Yea, it’s larger than your average coffee pot….guess what Negative Rocket scientists, it’s replacing 2 Pots.5. Easy to use controls.6. Cheap enoughCon’s1. I hate a 2 hour hot plate shut off….personal thing, add 1/2 cup water and start again. It’s gone before it shuts off again.2. Ain’t got no moreOther comments:Top fill requires you to move it out if under low cabinets to fill (a great hardship to some, I just slide it forward, fill and slide back). It’s not as fast as a K-machine…..oh, for pete’s sake people, it’s not a K machine!!!! Keep your old K machine and buy a coffee machine in addition if you can’t wait about 2-3 minutes for coffee.I have to fill it every time for a single cup……more trauma for some. Personally, I like fresh water better than water that’s been sitting in a machine or tank till ready to use. If you really want to you can fill it up with it’s 8-10oz and leave it, machine knows the difference between pot and single.Coffee flavor……tastes like coffee, all subjective, if yours is to weak, get a stronger kind, again not Rocket Science.I can’t taste any difference between Regular and Strong, again subjective.Hey, at the price you can’t beat it. Cheaper than a K machine and if unhappy with speed and size go for the $199.00 Silver Cuisiexpensive. That’s about it, other than the longevity test……****UPDATE****8 months later I had to buy another coffee pot.Out of the blue it decides to blow the tops off the pods and give me coffee grinds all over. Doesn’t matter what kind of Pod. Tried everything, Cleaned it, flipped gasket seal….same! So, rating dropped and will not get another one until this issue is taken care of by company.

I tried the K-cups with Community breakfast blend. I had coffee grinds completely throughout my coffee. It was not even drinkable. I used the filter(provided) and used my own Community breakfast blend. This second cup came out great. I did want to use the k-cups as advertised. I will update after a few more cups. The carafe side works great but I do not want to make a full pot every day.Update; June 29, 2017 After additional time and effort, I have concluded that the flaw is in the Community K-cups and not theHamilton Beach 49976 Flex brew 2-Way Brewer. I have tried several other K-cup brands and I have not had the problem with grinds throughout my cup of coffee. I am changing my rating from 2 stars to 5 stars. It was not fair for me to rate this brewer so low. TheHamilton Beach 49976 Flex brew 2-Way Brewer works great. The community K-cups are not what I expected.

This is the best multipurpose appliance I have ever used! To begin with, it’s easy to use, use one side or the other. I normally program my carafe side the night before so my coffee is ready in the morning. It’s easy enough with this machine. I have not tried to program the single brew side, but I am sure it works well. My only negative, which probably won’t bother most coffee drinkers is that the coffee comes out too hot. I usually place two ice cubes in my cup when I pour my morning joe. But that’s just me, most people like it hot.The single serve, or k cup side, works great. Because of the modular design of the k cup holder, you just need to make sure when you place the k cup in, that you feel it get punctured by the bottom needle. The top needle does not need much pressure because it only punctures the foil top of the k cups, so just by closing the cover you will be fine. I use the single brew side to brew iced tea.The unit has two different reservoirs, although the k cup side only brews what you put into it, not like most Kurigs that hold extra water. Just pour what you need and it will brew that amount for you. The height of the k cup side is big enough for my large travel mugs. I’ve included some photos, hope they help.Hope it works for a long time!

Love being able to make a single cup or a full pot. Really love having a reusable filter for my own coffee AND a filter for store-bought pods.Update: the water leaked all over the counter. Turns out there was a hose inside the machine that had come lose. Husband reattached it but it came off again. He decided to replace the hose and it’s all good again. He was mad but I still live the machine. As for other people’s negative reviews- – I’m ok with waiting THREE WHOLE minutes for a single brew.I’m also ok with having to pour the water in each time before I make a single brew. (No different than having to pour the water in before you make a full carafe.)If you want a Keurig – don’t buy this. It’s not a Keurig. It’s a great alternative.People complaining because they have to pour the water in each time. ???People complaining because it takes too long to make single brews for the family? Make a whole pot instead!People complaining because they can’t lift the lid while it’s under their cabinets?? Measure before you buy it.They can’t program a single brew ??? Wow.Nothing’s perfect.Relax and have a coffee.

I have only owned this coffee maker for 3-4 months now but I love this machine!! It comes with a reusable metal filter for both the carafe and the single cup makers. It makes fantastic flavor and is the exact some tasting no matter which way you make it, a pot, a single cup or if you use a K-cup. I will say you do have to fine-tune your measurements for the ground coffee but the overall operation of the machine is super easy with no more than a 3 button to a single button operation. The machine is fully programmable so you can wake up to that great morning coffee smell. You can even have it set to fill your traveler’s mug so you can avoid those crazy morning drive-thrus at Tims. I have yet to get a blockage on it but I am anal when it comes to cleaning my equipment. I also bought a 3-drawer, 36 k-cup holder from Amazon that sits directly below the machine and looks like the two were meant for one another. It keeps the k-cups out of sight and gives the overall appearance a little more professional look.I have found only 2 cons with this machine as nothing is ever perfect.First, the screen for the clock and programming, although really bright and clear, it shines through a tinted plastic that makes it almost disappear completely if you do not look directly at the right angle. So there are times I can’t see the clock or it’s hard to make out the display when I sit at my kitchen table.Secondly, my machine has gotten louder in the first 2-3 weeks when it was heating, brewing and finishing the cycle, the noise just got louder and louder. It’s not so loud it’s annoying or that it may obstruct your morning conversation with the kids or your spouse but it did get significantly louder and so I have to mention that. It was dead quiet when I first started using it, you could barely hear it but now you almost feel like your in a bistro now lol. That aside, this is an astounding coffee percolator. I love the carafe or single cup or even k-cup options. I love the automatic shutoff of the coffee warming plate for the carafe. It shuts off after 2 hours have passed after brewing. I love the 2 separate water level viewing glasses as they are super clear. The disassembly and cleaning of the machine are so easy you could get your four years old to do it, heck even gets the husband to do it. I love the fact you get reusable brewing screens. Being able to program my morning brew that’s another pro and above all else, for the price that you will pay for this machine and the flavor and speed you get out of it is simply amazing. Hamilton Beach truly made the definition of value with this machine. I also got the extended 3year warranty on top of the manufacturer 1 year warranty just in case this too good to be true machine doesn’t stand the test of time but at this rate I have nothing but positive thoughts that this machine will be here with me for at least another 5 years as long as no one steals it!!

Received Sept 5 2018 this replaced my Keurig .The FluxBrew seems to fit the gap in single cup coffee makes and whole pot coffee makes in one device. Before buying this unit I did a lot of reading and watched of youtube videos, which like anything thing you’ll find the haters and people who like it. My personal opinion after using this for a full month on a daily basis is that its, ok. On the plus side you can use your own coffee grounds for the single use side out of the box, no added baskets to buy, your also able to use any brand of K-cup and you have a choice to brew a normal strength or Bold on either the pot side or single side alsotThe Coffee comes out hot, hotter than the Keurig did. The controls are simple and the setup is simple. On the negative side, there is no multi cup water reservoir which means each time you want a single cup you need to add water. I figured this would be a pain but it turns out not a big deal at all and don’t let this little thing dissuade you. The foot print is on the larger side but I think it is not as tall as my Keurig was. It does take longer to brew one cup over the Keurig, about 2min and little longer if you want a bold cup, again not a huge deal . The pot side is no different than the single side. All and all I use it every day, a couple of times a day and have had no issues with it. Would I buy it again? hmmm, sure…. but I would wait to see just how long this one will last.

So we got this unit to replace the two coffee makers we had on the counter to save space and for the convenience which we did achieve. You are not going to be able to set it and forget it, if you want to pre-program it to brew you a cup of coffee at a set time, only the pot is programmable. This was one feature that the keurig brand machines offer and is not available on this unit, so if that is extremely important to you – do not get this machine. I love that I can program it for a pot of coffee for weekends, but during the week I only have time for one cup, especially now that I have to fill the reservoir using the cup I will be using as that dictates how much coffee you get. Normally with the keurig machine, I would fill the reservoir and set what size of a cup I want – can’t do that here, the amount of water you add to that reservoir is what you get out – so if you want to use two k-cups for a 14 oz cup, you can’t really do that easily. All in all, this is a good machine so far but am missing some of the features I didn’t realize I’d miss so much 😉

Had very high hopes for this product, very disappointed! The single K-Cup brewing worked great for a couple of days. I now fill the water up to the fill mark and when brew is complete I only get half a cup brewed. The next time I brew a cup it overflows. Very very disappointed! I can’t recommend this product due to the single cup brewing. Bought this for my wife and now have to find something else to replace this item. It did have potential allot of thinking went into the single cup brewing capabilities, just can’t brew properly!

Received this 2 weeks ago and so far I love it. I went from a coffee maker to a keurig and was really starting to get tired of the money and packaging being wasted and decided it was time for a change. I still wanted the convenience of being able to make a quick coffee to go but also wanted to make enough coffee on the weekends for a few cups while lazing around. With this machine you get the best of both worlds.

I have only been using it for 2 weeks but love it so far. It’s exactly what I have been looking for. I can make a single cup during the week before work and brew a pot on the I having used the k-cup option yet but expect it will be great as well.

This is the best coffee maker I have ever used. I’ve owned both Keurig and Tassimo, and this is far more superior. No pods to buy, the single cup brewer makes a perfect hot cup of coffee with the reusable filter, and its nice to be able to program it for either single use or a whole pot.

We have not found anything to dislike , this little beauty stands way up on the coffee machine empire , my son uses the single cup , I use the carafe size it’s used every day . Now the interesting thing is and I’m a picky coffee drinker as is my son , and we swear The coffee tastes 100% better than any other machine we have owned . You have won us over Hamilton Beach 👍

nice product, i was sceptical at first for buying a Hamilton-beach product since i dont seem to have any luck with this brand, well my luck change and its great, love the 2 in 1 factor, its plaisant when you have guess over and dont need to stand by making one cup at the time, and on the other hand its more economical when i want to brew a single cup. if you planning on long term with this machine it would be wise to buy the extended warranty
