This is a wonderful drill. Thank you, Dewalt, for the keyed chuck!! Just, thank you!! To anyone out there who’s a newbie to drills, get this one! The keyed chuck holds the drill bit in place. If you use a drill with a keyless chuck, the manufacturer will claim it makes it quicker to change out the drill bits. Technically, this is true, if you’re changing drill bits all the time, and if every second counts. Otherwise, for goodness’ sakes, keyless chucks are disastrous. Your drill will reach a point of not holding the bit, and you’ll have to keep tightening it manually between drilling. It can actually become a safety issue. So that’s one reason why this is a great drill!!Also, when I lay it down to put a different board into my pocket hole jig, this drill lies flat and does not tilt, which is good, because it’s still spinning. This drill gets a lot of power, and I can tell an improvement over my old drill. Not sure if my old drill was always weaker or if it died over time.Another great thing about this drill is that it plugs in. To anyone considering a drill which charges, just consider the headache. If you have access to outlets, then get a drill which plugs in, like this one! If you’re occasionally going to do outdoor stuff, then just buy a long extension cord. It will all save you the headache of charging something. This drill also is very ergonomical. It feels smooth and works smoothly. It even has a little hole on the cord for the chuck key. I love this drill.

I have about a half dozen DeWalt drills of various types and sizes, used for electrical construction. Milwaukee and DeWalt are the only tools I will buy, if I expect them to last. This drill is strong, lightweight, and well made. I expect it to last as long as my others, some are 25 years old and have had some heavy use, and been rebuilt a time or two. I prefer a chuck with a key, you can get a better grip on a drill bit. Only one thing I don’t like about this drill, the chuck key holder is fixed on the cord right at the drill. My others have a strap that slides up and down the cord, so you can use the key without removing it from the cord. This one, you have to remove the key from the holder. So I found myself hunting for where I last laid down the key. DeWalt, spend 10 more cents and provide the key strap you use on other models please!

I am an older female dabbler in DYI. I needed a stronger more reliable drill than I had around the house for a project I was working on that smoked the 20+ dollar drill. I love this drill, went like butter through the same item that smoked the other one. I really don’t know much about much when it comes to tools, but that is why I decided to review this. It works itself. It is light enough and small enough, yet plenty of power. I almost didn’t get this one due to a couple of reviews complaining about controlling the speed, but I have had no problem at all with that and I am very glad I ignored it. Amazon was on time, packaging intact, and unit in perfect condition.

This drill has the power of a 1/2″ drill in 3/8″ form. The 7 amp 2800 rpm motor is impressive. Torque is impressive, with nice responsive trigger for the variable speed and easy operation of the reversible feature. This, in my opinion, is a very nice drill for around my house. I am hard on 3/8″ drills as I drill a lot of stainless steel, cast steel and cast iron automotive parts as well as aluminum, brass and copper parts. A keyless chuck is out of the question for me, and this drill should be a great tool for a long time. China did a great job on this one. UPS did a number on this box, which is just the drill, chuck, and manual in a box with no packing of any kind, topped off with a pitch across our concrete porch from the sidewalk with no damage I can see, yet. This drill has already proven it’s toughness before it was used.

This isn’t a bad drill, but it’s not as powerful as I thought it would be. The issue I have with it is the chuck. I bought this to run some polishing wheels, but the chuck has a long extension – a metal bar at the top – on it that keeps you from tightening anything that extends a bit past the bit holder. I can’t image a reason for this type of design, but if you want to attach anything with any width, you won’t be able to tighten it because the extra length of the chuck rams into the polishing or other wheel you are trying to tighten.

Hard to find a good corded drill with a keyed chuck anymore but this one appears to be of fairly quality construction. It is fairly heavy in the hand and similar in weight to my old black and decker so if you’re looking for a super lightweight drill look elsewhere.

Great drill so far and it might even be the best drill I have ever owned. It appears to be well made and feels good and solid in you hands. It has a very good keyed chuck. The variable speed is exceptional, easily controlled from very slow through full speed. Full speed at 2800 rpm is fast enough to use a grinding stone or cut off wheel. I have only had it a couple of months, so only time will tell if it holds up. I’m a machinist and it will get a work out. I do really like it and I think it will last.

Very nice design. Above average chuck. Surprised at the length of the power cord. I was able to run the drill 1-20 rpm easily. It will make your lights dim upon start up. Must draw a fairly high current most likely for heavy drilling as desired. The model used was DWE 1014 3/8-inch 0-2800 RPM. Well priced.

I needed a new corded drill with a keyed chuck (learned to hate keyless chucks) with enough power to make driving screws through wood easy. This little yellow devil does the job! I also used it with a self feeding drain auger to clear an old scaly drain. Enough power for that job, too! I recommend the DeWalt product.

Drill started working intermittently and even gave some sparks shock to user. Cant get ahold of mississauga dewalt. No-one answers phone. Waited for 40 minutes on hold and then went to busy signal. Not happy with Dewalt drills. I then tried London….no answer, then tried Ottawa no answer.
