Ok I know why this costs more than the traditional handled one, it fricken rocks!! So much control and maneuverability with this. The speed control is a bit awkward under the back but if you know how fast you age going when you start it’s not a problem. The big blade release lever is nice and comfortable. The weight of it makes it so it doesn’t move around on your work. The oscillating feature makes it cut so much faster. The dual LEDs are bright and don’t shadow the blade. Well built and worth the money!!!

I have used many jigsaws over my last 20 years of building. Previous favorite was a barrel-grip Bosch that is not produced anymore. So, after trying quite a few… I ordered one of these DeWalt saws. It is, perhaps, the smoothest, most accurate cutting jigsaw I have ever used. Very nicely engineered. It IS notably expensive, once you include cost of a 20v battery. For the work I do, this is worth it… I believe. Accuracy wins at the end of the day, as it saves additional steps of finish work.

It is a beast. Love the fact that it is actuated by a non-spring loaded slider switch versus a standard trigger. A true one-handed locking switch to reduce trigger finger fatigue.I can see an issue for others, that the hand-hold girth of the handle is built for us big handed folks.

It is very important to use the correct blade for the product you need to cut.

I’ve only had it for two days and used it twice on a job (outside of several test cuts) but all I can say is this thing is NICE! Well built, solid, heavy and accurate. Great power and maneuverability. I got the 14 blade assortment with the Dewalt box and it’s a good selection. It’s a beast but controllable and comfortable. Love the blade changes, light, dust blower and overall performance. Time will tell but so far the best Jig Saw I’ve used since my corded Bosch precision Jig Saw went missing at a job site. This thing cuts very straight, no wandering or tilting of the cut. I would highly recommend.

Yeah this is a lot for a jigsaw. I get it. I cringed as I hit the buy button. But I have to say, this saw has already improved the quality of my woodworking. I build furniture, so I can’t speak to using it on a job site or for coping, but for my needs, it works great. This is my first barrel grip saw and I will never go back. The lower center of gravity and the ergonomics of the grip make this very easy to use accurately. The dust blower and the light keep the cut lines clearly visible. With a scroll blade, I do find myself reaching for this in some situations that I would normally take to the bandsaw.Maybe I have just had bad experiences with other products, but the orbital settings have distinct effects at each setting and setting the orbital setting on the max makes quick, but rough work, when appropriate. The saw has PLENTY of power and the speed settings, while in a bit of an awkward place to use on the fly, dramatically improves the flexibility of cuts the saw accomplishes. It does take a bit of use to become accustomed to the power switch. I am used to just releasing a trigger to stop the saw. But I got used to it very quickly. And not having to engage a trigger lock more than outweighs the inconvenience of using the feature. If you are on the fence, just get it. If you are just shopping, it might be worth saving up a few extra pennies to get this tool.

At times I have almost given up on finding a cordless jigsaw that could compete with my 10 yr old Bosch 1590. While DeWalt’s first crack at a 20v jigsaw was okay if you were cutting lattice or finishing the cuts on a rafter or stair stringer, when it came to coping crown, anything that wasn’t straight, and everything thing in my wood shop here came the Bosch and extension chord. I even went so far as picking up the DeWalt power station (DCB1800) so I could have a quasi cordless experience.I had heard good things about this barrel jigsaw and figured it couldn’t hurt. Well, for the first time in years the Bosch case has dust on only one side where it has been sitting with my other tools that have been relegated to purgatory after replacements have been found. This saw has amazing power, yet always remains well under your control. On hard woods, the cut is clean and while some relief cuts may be required for tight turns it feels like my chorded Bosch.Put a Collins coping jig on it and u can make beautiful i/s corners on your molding. I don’t know why I have stated away from barrel type jig saws. This saw really feels like an extension of your arm whether you are pulling the saw towards you inverted or using more traditionally right side up and being guided away from you.I have noticed I like using this saw more when it has a larger 5 ah or 6 ah battery because while it is heavier the tool is more balanced. Despite the power of this tool, it doesn’t kill the batteries – in fact I typically cannot remember how long it has been since I switched batteries.

I’m really liking this new version of the jig saw. Easy to hold and just the right weight. Used daily for over a month now and very satisfied with the saw.

I purchased this based on the good reviews, some of which mentioned ease of use. I beg to differ. Out of the box, I found the grip position uncomfortable and the tool wasn’t well balanced. Adding a 5Ah battery helped the balance but increased the weight. For me, the biggest “No No” is the switch. It slides and holds in position. I have fairly large hands but could not operate the switch and hold the tool with one hand. Amazon accepted the return and I have ordered the DEWALT DCS334B 20V MAX. Although this second item costs slightly less, price had no bearing on this review or choice of tool. I have a full range of the new Dewalt 20V Brushless tools and this is the only one I didn’t like.

I’ve been looking for a new barrel grip jigsaw for awhile. Over the years I’ve used different brands like Bosch and more recently a Makita which cuts very well. I was a bit skeptical going cordless but as it’s or a tool I use everyday for work I figured I’d give it a chance. This jigsaw doesn’t disappoint! Fast cutting, low vibrations, easy handling for turning or radius cuts. So far this is a beast, only downside if any is some people may find it on the heavy side but it’s worth it and it feels extremely solid while cutting

Easy to control and gives great line of sight to see were you are cutting. Battery size you use is important to give good balance.

Had a similar Bosch many years ago but this one is super and much more agile since it has no power cable. The led light is awesome letting me work much later into the day. The changing of blades is 2 seconds.

It’s really great.

Great tool. Converting all my power tools to dewalt (from cheaper brand). Impressed how straight this jigsaw cuts. I like the tooless blade exchange and ease of use

Shipper sent right away, was able to get a new one because 1st didn’t work. The shipper was easy to work with. The tool works great, easier grip, easier to hold, excellent for coping with a coping foot (I bought one for this saw).
