Having lost my $150 Belvita to an uncoupling (I loved him still and knew he needed great coffee but would never have gotten himself another expensive brewer), I decided to see if down-market options had improved the past several years. Happy to report they have!!! This brewer produces results that are so similar at a third the price. Brews a very tasty full pot from my home-ground beans in about ten minutes (6 with Belvita) but has a ‘pause’ feature the other does not so I can get a cup ASAP! Its charcoal water filter improves taste as well. Carafe keeps coffee hot for about 3 hours and warm for about 8, and if you close and save like I do, it stays fresh enough for a great tasting cup of iced coffee even the following day. I’m a purist who grinds her beans right before brewing so I haven’t tried and can’t comment on the electronic timed brew features. Carafe lid is a bit tricky but after a few days you get the hang of it. Gold mesh reusable filter is ideal for planet-lovers and lets zero silt through to spoil the cuppa. Coffee lovers, heed my words and have zero hesitation in ordering this machine at one-third the price point of its high-end contemporary. I can’t speak to durability yet as it’s a new purchase, but purely in function and taste, it matches its pricier competition.

This replaces the last Cuisinart DCC-1100BK that we owned for over four years. We LOVED it!After receiving a replacement for the “Amazon Football” I received, we have had a leaking problem! The leak is from the Water Level Indicator Window. I can watch it drip – VERY POOR QUALITY!I am surprised with feedback I have read on the same subject Cuisinart has not fixed this problem… they must have to unload all the defective merchandise first!** Update 09/20 **Well, past Amazon doing anything – and Cuisinart wants over $20.00 to send back the defective one and ship a replacement!Like Hell!! Damn thing is less than two months old! Just goes to show that Warranties aren’t worth a damn.NEVER AGAIN CUISINART!
Do not buy this…its awful. We returned the first one b/c it suddenly stopped keeping the coffee hot and would turn off automatically…for no reason during brewing. They were very good about replacing it with another one….its not been six months and we are now faced with the same problem. There is something defective with this product. It not only turns off automatically, it barely keeps the coffee warm when its on. I have requested a full refund and will buy another product line…so disappointed. NOBODY at Amazon will get back to me in trying to return the second product…and yes, it mysteriously pours coffee all over the counter when the lid is on and I have NO IDEA why…this is by far the worse product I have bought in a long long time.
