not buying the larger, AeraMax 290 instead now. I only managed to get 8 months of use out of the HEPA filter. This is 8 months of running the purifier on auto mode with the +plus button enabled. The air quality sensor seems to function adequately, although I know there are times where my nose/face will feel puffy with my eyes and nose excreting fluids and the light is still blue. Only once I crank the unit up to fan speed 4 does the light change from blue to red. This purifier beats my previous “silent” Honeywell by a mile. Fan speeds 1 and 2 are rather quiet, fan speed 3 I can hear but it is not that bothersome, and fan speed 4 is about what my previous Honeywell QuietCare sounded like on a speed of 2.

I bought a laser sensor to check how well the cleanliness of the air is before and after this unit. Before the unit was in my sons 100 sq ft room, the chemical type allergens > .3 but 5 microns was 40. After the unit ran in his room for the morning, the small micron count was ~25, and pollen count was 0.What else could you say, it works.btw: I bought the dylos sensor if anyone else is interested. It helped me debug a lot of things that a hepa filter can’t take care of. The combination of knowing what’s absorbing and releasing the pollen with a unit that works has helped my son out amazingly.

We have an air purifier in every room of our home. We use the Awair monitor to track indoor air quality. The quality of the air we breathe is extremely important.I bought this for our bedroom to replace a smaller, noisier Holmes unit.It is a great size for an average room. You can place it up next to a wall so it is very convenient. It has been extremely quiet even with the Area+ mode on all of the time. It has a huge filter so I am expecting it to last a very long time.Since it has a built in air quality monitor, you turn it on and can forget about it. It takes care of the rest. Dust has been down and we haven’t had any allergy issues. The display lights are cool, but extremely bright at night. I wish the unit had a built in dimmer. It also gives off a very strong plastic-iy smell for the first few weeks. It is very strange for an air purifier to have such a strong plastic odor. I almost returned it because of that, but the odor has been decreasing.Overall, there is not a better air purifier for the money. I wish I would have found this one before I purchased units from Holmes and Germ Guardian.

Well, it is a bit large, the lights on the control panel are too bright and no option to dim (for bedrooms), however, this thing is quiet in auto mode and works very very well. With the “plasma” thing on (ok, let’s just call it ionization, and as to whether it is producing ozone, well – I can smell a slight “lightning storm” smell so…). However it killed the odor of the dog, and the mass of kids shoes piled at the doors. I have a sensitive nose, odors bother me, and I have to say this thing seems to be working well. It has a carbon filter that of course helps with odors but the “ion drive” helps too. As for sound, on low it is to quiet to mention, even on the “boost” setting (or level 2) it is very quiet but more importantly still moves air. Quiet is useless if there isn’t a good airflow and this seems to do well, likely due to the very large surface area of the filter pack. It’s all proprietary so the filters are what they are price wise, but when you start doing the math on allergy medicine and nose sprays at night – well, it’s not that bad! The auto, as others have mentioned seems to actually work (burned some pancakes and the red EYE came on and it kicked into high gear – it is in the living room near the kitched).I recommend this for those looking for a filter for parts of the house (other than the bedroom, unless you cover the control panel with something, it is bright). For us, we have this one in the family room, and some by Germgardian in the kids rooms. The small germgardians are louder, but no lights. If fellowes would just make a dimmer for these I would put them at 6 stars for value, performance, and versatility. However, a couple of dark post-it notes will also work….Would buy again!

It’s so quiet on the low setting you have to put your ear right to the fan to hear it. I like the automatic setting because it ramps up when allergens are detected. It’s funny – we had it in the bedroom and my lady friend was getting ready for work. As soon as her hair-spray and perfume were detected by the machine (she was in the adjoining bathroom, maybe 15 feet away), it ramped up and the LED indicator turned red (from blue). Just goes to show that it does in fact detect things in the air. Also… I’m pretty sure the dog farted next to it once and it turned up, which is funny.

Me encanta, tiene un sensor que regula la intensidad del filtrado en relación a los patógenos que detecta en el aire. No es muy ruidoso en comparación a otros filtros que he tenido, especialmente en las configuraciones de intensidad baja.

Seems to work well but only had it 1 week. Lights on the front panel are too bright for bedroom so I covered them with tape. Very quiet on low speed and powerful when you use the turbo mode for quick cleaning.

gotta say I love this air purifier…I choose this one because the asthma society recommends it- it is soooo quiet and came quite quickly–I would def buy this again

Truly amazing technology, so quiet I keep forgetting it’s running until I walk by and see the lights. Takes up minimal amount of space. I love it!!!!
