Okay, never had an Abu reel. This thing is legitimately a luxury reel. It wasn’t their most expensive reel, but I wanted something that is a step up. I have fished my whole life and have used great reels (pflugger, high end shimano, etc). This is smooth and casts like a dream. Well worth the money. I am pleasantly surprised.

Unfortunately I did not have a good experience with this reel AFTER putting it to the test versus some incredibly strong smallmouth. Midway through the second trip the reel began catching or sticking mid-crank while under tension. So basically while retrieving it would stick and I would have to crank much harder than usual. I don’t need to explain why that’s completely unacceptable while fishing let alone finesse fishing. While not under tension the reel would still free spin fine so it was only noticeable when actually using it to fish. It may have been easily remedied by servicing but I didn’t think this should happen so quickly for $100 reel so I just wanted to part ways Abu Garcia. I was going to try the x30 but opted for a Shimano NASCI instead. Buyer beware

I currently own 3 of these in spinning reels a 20 series, and two 30 series. I also have 4 of them in casting reels. They are a great reel for the money, they hold up well with the abuse of wading rivers and streams. I use them for a variety of species from bream to pike. I mainly use them for bass fishing and the drag works flawlessly. One of these reels paired with your favorite line should do the job. I paired all of mine with seaguar fluorocarbon from 8lb to 12lb. Will be replacing my older reels with these along the way.

Best $99 spinning reel for walleye fishing. Bearings were smooth and you have great control for jigging to move slow or reel in lots of line with the gear ratio. Drag was great and it worked exactly as it should. Only con is it is heavier than the revo Ike. So if you are going to jig for a 10 hour day get you jigging arm in shape. The only reason I am giving this reel 4 stars is because I fished this next to the revo Ike Which is a true 5 star reel.

I’ve used a couple of times and I actually feel it’s not very smooth as I expected from a big brand, not bad but not great, pretty much mediocre. Very dull shiny black paint on top of the drag and some of body parts bother me so bad, looking very cheap. I’ve also gotten Piscifun Carbon X for $70 and this looks much sharper and is moving more smooth for me.

I’m getting back into fishing and wanted a good brand as well as it to look stealthy. Perfect weight, not heavy what so ever. Performs as expected.

This reel is just ok. I don’t think it is worth 90 dollars. I have a Shimano Nasci and a Daiwa Fuego and they are way better. I should have went with another one of those. Decided I would try Abu since I like their C3 6500. Their spinning reels are not that good.

Good reel for the money. Could be a little smoother but with some oil it worked just fine. Would buy again compared to some of the higher priced reels out there.

By far the smoothest and nicest reel I have. Compared to the Penn Battle II this reel casts farther, reels smoother and overall feels nicer. Both considered best in class, but there’s a total feeling of greatness here.

Unbeatable reel at this price point. Casts smoothly, super smooth drag and feels great in the hand. I got the 20 size for my drop shot set up and it’s been amazing so far.
