I slapped this on a TWC extreme I had I use for catfishing. Slapped 30 lbs braid on and it handled any fish we caught the other night just fine. I’m sure this reel is great for many other types of fishing. But for my context river and lake catfishing. From boat and bank. These rock.**************edited review****************I had a buddy check out the reel because I was having some issues and basically this spool doesn’t have a milled hole or a post to tie off onto like other similar abu’s do. Well the line was slipping on the spool causing a lot of issues. But basically he spooled the line off and put a piece of tape on the spool holding the line then spooled it back up. And it works fine again. So it was my inexperience that led to the issue. This is a great reel I would definitely buy again.

The ABU Ambassadeur C3 and C4 reels still made in Sweden are the best value in classical round bait casting reels available today. They will last for years if properly taken care of and perform well in fresh and salt water. Regrettably, Pure Fishing has elected to put the ABU Garcia name on its line of cheap “S” Series reels made in China bringing down the reputation of the entire line. Hopefully Pure Fishing will be sold to a company that better respects the heritage of the ABU Garcia line.

The best round baitcast reel out there. Borderline indestructible. Smooth, strong, casts a mile, good drag system. The level wind moves as you cast and line is paying out, so the line coming off doesn’t get “bound” by the level wind guide sitting in one place. The 6601 can hold right at 300 yd of 65# braid. I paired it with a pretty stout 7.5’ rod. Great frog rig for bass and will work for inshore too.

been fishing these round reels since the original red 5000 came over from Sweden in the 1950s. this year i ordered 3 of the C4-4600s. they work great and feel just right in my hand. i use them primarily in the brackish backwaters of the Everglades for snook.

This one had too much drag at start. I thought it was normal but I was new to this type of reel. After trying some different reel realized this one has an issue. I believe i just got a defective unit but its past the return time unfortunately. Finally, after using it for saltwater, I do not believe simply rinsing it will be enough as the drag has now gotten much worse and my line with 1 oz weight will never just drop.

Love this reel. Reliable and can take a beating. Numerous trips to the salty spots on the map. If you take care of the real and clean it after you use it in salty environments, it will take care of you when fishing. Good drag and smooth retrieve. I would purchase another. Have used in freshwater burning spinner baits, bouncing the bottom for flounder, jigging gotcha plugs and spoons for blues and spanish, trolling spoons on a kayak in the ocean….it really is versatile for me and have been very happy with it.
